Ive been waiting for the new line of samsung 40" 1080p Tvs to come out so I can buy my first hdtv. It upsets me that the awsome backlit lcd version is only 720p. Im willing to spend a little more for the extra quality. The only thing stoping me from buying one right now is the brightness, which I think these leds will solve. Too bad its only 720p tho.

Heres hoping a 1080p led version is released here in Canada within the next 8 months.

mike

Comments on Samsung shows off 40-inch LED backlit LCD at IFA

I have a current gen samsung LCD, it is so bright it can actually be painful to look at areas of pure white. I imagine this will fade with age though, unlike LED backlighting. But if brightness is your worry, then you don't have to fear the current line of samsungs.

Blacks on the other hand suck.

Max Howell
