The OE's actually looks much better than the AE's, lets just see how they sound.

Oh and the disses are silly. For one thing no one can ever agree on what they don't like about Bose. I have heard different versions of the same complaint "all highs no lows" "no highs no lows" "no highs all lows" etc. no one on the net can ever agree what they don't like about Bose. So try something other than a tag-line please :) And heck just try them out compare them to others and give your reasons why you like/dislike them. And if you dislike them let us know why the other headphones sounded better. Take those little mini-cube speakers. They claim to can produce substantial low end sound from them. Obviously, they don't (it's simple engineering), but most people who actually buy Bose products wouldn't know the difference (It's that brand I was in the newspaper/magazine! And it's expensive! It must be good!).

The audio quality itself is not 'bad' per se, it's just at the 'low-average' end, where £30-50 speaker systems usually reside. One as a gift and one for myself. The only reason I bought these was because I had a gift card for bestbuy and I HAD to buy the best headphones for under 200 dollars they offered at that store.

The number one thing I can say is that YES they are overpriced. However they arn't all bad. I HATE when people take the easy and simple route of giving feedback and jump to one extreme or the other like many of these comments have.

These headphones offer superficial sound quality. They have little or no mid range sound and offer up some boomy sound that gives a sort of false "fullness" to the sound. So if you are an audiofile then these arn't the headphones for you.

The things that you are really paying for with these headphones isn't the sound quality but the design, form factor, and the bose name which comes with some good support.

With that said I don't regret buying these. If you find yourself in the odd position like I did where you are forced to shop at a specific store and and want some good headphones for your ipod, or other mobile device. These will do the job. They are extremely comfortable, and I having been using them with my DS Lite and frankly the sound quality is such that I like that they are boomy and give a sort of false amplified feel.

The cord length is pretty short. But on the upside it doesn't get in the way and is perfect for mobile devices.

So in summation these things really feel like some of the best "general consumer" headphones you can buy yet ironicaly they come with a professionals price tag. So you will have to do some soul searching and figure out if the price is worth it. Just keep in mind that you arn't buying the best sound but you are buying a solid product.

Jocose

Comments on Bose TriPort OE headphones

OHH yes bose has a really good service
one of the last good service in the world really,.. i have so often to do with hotline, service, support, waranty, rma ,.. bose is one of the best

i had no bill but also broken triports they offer me 50€ for new ones with a new bill and new waranty time, that was really great
and they offered me i can have also the OE headphonse for the same price so i take it but it was a mistake a big one

the soundquality is much less than the original triport
but the OE
1x looks really solid
2x light and smaller
3x remove able cables with 2 shipped lenghts
4x cables a similar to nylon so they are not so with and much easier to remove the "cable salat" (sorry dont know the english word hihi)

but for me is sound everything :-(
so ill tkae now alook on other models possible bose is there again

bofh999

Comments on Bose TriPort OE headphones

I went to the mall today and stopped at the Apple computer store. While I was there I tried the Bose Triport OE headphones. I was blown away at the sound that came from them. I see at lot of opinions on this blog by people that haven't even tried them. The best thing I think is to try them yourself, only you know what you like.
I think they are a great product. And they have a bonus, they are made in America.
Needless to say I bought them.

Bob Lamson

Comments on Bose TriPort OE headphones

Bose Triport OE, the best. That said I just purchased a pair of Bose OEs and they are great. The sound isn't as goood as some other headphones out there but they are 1. comfortable 2. lightweight and 3. sound decent.

I would like to point out I was looking for a very specific product and these fit that niche. I wanted something less bulky than over-the-ear headphones but with a descent sound and good comfort so I could enjoy my iPod Touch. I have not had much luck with "ear buds". These Bose OEs are perfect as portable headphones. They sound as good as a good set of over the ear headphones but are small, light, and foldable. Also their tendency toward the "boomy" side actually makes the sound from an iPod more full and rich instead of the relatively flat, compressed sound you normally get. They also come with a nice semi-hard shell case. All in all, very happy with my purchase.

Jim Warrick

Comments on Bose TriPort OE headphones

I got a pair of these for free for test driving a Maserati (Seriously). They SUCK compared to the price. I have a pair Grado SR-225 ($200) that are so much better for about the same price. I did heavy research before getting a good pair of headphones and all the people on the audiophile message boards said Grado or Sens are the way to go. I really love my Grado's powered by a Total Bithead headphone amp! The sound is OUTRAGEOUS!!! BOSE puts all their money into marketing not engineering.

Jonathan
