Samsung's SGH-i760 super slider
Oh yeah daddy, another full featured Windows Mobile phone for ya in that unmistakable black boxiness only Samsung can (unfortunately) deliver. This unannounced SGH-i760 takes an SGH-i600 engine, halves the shell to create a QWERTY slider, and then drops in a 240x320 touchscreen for getting your PocketPC on. The result: a UMTS/HSDPA and tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE powerhouse sporting a 520MHz Intel processor, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expansion, and a front-facing video cam with another 2 megapixel shooter 'round back all bundled up and spat out in a 115~154 × 57 × 19-mm / 119-gram slab of super slider action. No word on pricing or release yet, just more pics after the break.

This baby looks pretty nice actually, but smartphone makers need to start including GPS!
Deluxe @ Oct 11th 2006 9:18AM
That's hot!

Now THERE'S a phone I wouldn't mind having. I think this one has pretty much everything I could ever need. Just hope it's not buggy. Any idea how much internal space this thing has? Just curious...
Arnold @ Oct 11th 2006 9:38AM
If only it was quad band GSM and tri band UMTS/HSDPA, I'd buy one now.
james @ Oct 11th 2006 9:40AM
WOW! SO much better than the cdma version! Wi-Fi!
MitchellO @ Oct 11th 2006 9:45AM
I want one now!!!
Rus @ Oct 11th 2006 10:11AM
You could add a much better GPS with Bluetooth
RikF @ Oct 11th 2006 10:48AM
You can add better gps via bluetooth, which is great for when you are in the car, but for walking about you can't beat in-built, especially with things like POIs in a strange city :)

The battery life is going to be pretty short. My M600i is only a few grams lighter and uses a processor half the speed / no camera / no wifi. But I only get 2 days of reasonable use of its features before the battery dies. Simply not interested in something that has to be recharged every 2 hours.

A CDMA version of this would be a nice successor to the i730. I have the i730 with WM5 and I still think it is one of the best PDA phones out there. I like the vetical sliders better than the horizontal ones from HTC. I'd love to have what the i730 does in a slimmer form factor and this one seems to fit the spec.
robthegadgetman @ Oct 11th 2006 10:44AM
Is that the full Pocket PC software or the down sized Phone Edition?
GEORGE ASANTI @ Dec 20th 2007 9:23AM

son of a bitch... i've been waiting around for cingular to sell the i607, now it looks like i'll be waiting around for this instead.
Brian Leone @ Oct 11th 2006 11:20AM
Man alive.. I need that. *Runs off to pawn Treo*
adamos @ Oct 11th 2006 11:34AM
BTW. it looks like shit...but technical support is really interesting :))))
Ben @ Oct 11th 2006 12:22PM
The original MoDaCo thread lists it as triband 3G/HSDPA. The original thread doesn't say whether it is tri or quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, but if it's quadband, I'm getting one!
Dave @ Oct 11th 2006 12:41PM
Ugh ... I want this on Sprint ... WITH WiFi.
nachX @ Oct 11th 2006 1:14PM
wow man, thats hot! But i still dont like how they put their oversized logo onto their devices. it really kills some of the appeal of the phone.
pug @ Oct 11th 2006 1:56PM
Another one with no 850 support. WTF!? How hard can it be to include a chipset that has all 4 frequencies?!
Hinesh @ Oct 11th 2006 2:08PM
I think I just found my next phone :-)
Iain @ Oct 11th 2006 2:49PM
"240 X 320" is pretty low res for such an expensive device. My old $40 Palm Zire from 1999 is higher res!
Zhoe Garcia @ Oct 11th 2006 3:36PM
i want one!
Jimmy Louis @ Oct 11th 2006 5:05PM
I was looking at the i320... but then people complained about the battery life lack of WiFi, etc. ... then I was "wait... there is a i600?!?! Man, I NEED one of those" (Unlocked of course because I'm on T-Mobile and they NEVER get cool phones)... then I heard that Cingular was getting the i607 in the USA... then I was like, those @^* get all the cool stuff over there... but hey at least they don't get WiFi...nyah
With the thoughts of still importing a i600 over here (since I'm on T-Mobile, the Tri-band issue is not a problem)... then T-Mo has te nerve to announce the Dash.... not as "tech-looking" but vastly less expensive ($199 with two-year commitment) with WiFi and a bunch of other bells as whistles... but no touch-screen... I can live with that (Current unlocked Treo 650 owner)plus I can use the insurance I've been paying for finally (since T_Mo doesn't have te 650 I've been babying mine)... Maybe I'll do this one... and it's coming out in a few days (actually a week..but whatever)
Now THIS!... nice and "tech looking" all the features I need, and more...touchscreen, QWERTY, high res (high enough), WiFi, BLuetooth 2.0....man when is this thing coming out!!?!... I hope before something else comes out and confuses me some more...
I think it's because CES is coming that all the manufacturers are making these announcements... I'm glad I'm going....
Amit @ Oct 11th 2006 6:19PM
looks sweet.....cant wait to get my hands on it
Taka @ Oct 12th 2006 9:36AM
This is a really sweet phone. I'm currently using the i730 and I love it, but I think this is going to be a way better one!! I must get it!
Thank god that this one is lighter then the older versions. I was waiting for it to have a camera on it too.
dismissedasdrone @ Oct 12th 2006 10:01AM
Good to see they're sticking with the terrible keyboard from the i730/i830...

Wow, finally a sleek smarphone! Now Samsung just needs to bring it to the US market.
We can only hope at this point...
Suraj @ Oct 6th 2007 12:06PM
Do any of you know if it uses WM6 or WM5?
Is there an upgrade availible?
Dominick @ Nov 2nd 2007 11:07AM
Man I hope this phone is still coming out. I hate the SCH-i760s horizontal keyboard, and the fact that it doesn't have 3G. This not only has 3G but has a webcam, a 2MP camera, and the AWESOME vertical keyboard!
