On one hand no backlight = less distortion. Also it could be the flash from a camera. Since each pixel is it's own light source (no backlight), to turn black, it emits no light. It's true black. OLEDs are the future of displays from what I've seen. There was another contender but they haven't gotten off their ass and done anything yet... *cough* SED *cough*<br><br>Oh, and just think of this screen in a 15 inch widescreen laptop... LCDs are one of the bigger power drains on a laptop, second to the hard drive. This will cut down consumption a LOT (not to mention heat)... this + flash based HDs... oh yes. The LCD on my laptop is less than 1/4th of an inch thick.  If it were any thinner, it would snap too easily.  It's also made of carbon fiber.. in very thin laptop displays, you HAVE to use a very sturdy surface for the backing.
