ESPECIALLY when HDMI tv's are so incredibly rare, its a total waste of money for 90% of the buyers. I am miffed that Sony wont include component cables though, those are virtually the same price as standard A/V.

I also dont see what the big deal is with rumble. And so when people talk about how we're doing vis-a-vis the Nintendo DS, again, it's not the whole story. We're selling a device to guys our age, who are using it to play games, to play movies, to access video on the net, music, etc. And it's a very different product than Nintendo DS. No company that I can recall has won a battle of this magnitude with Microsoft. It's all been simply a matter of how long Microsoft has taken to dominate the space, and the 360's doing quite well. Its all about the games though. I need to play certain Playstation franchises. Final Fantasy XIII is going to rock. So will Gran Turismo HD. I predict that this guy's career will be dinged by this -- Peter, can I call you Peter? If you're reading this, I hope you're still on the golden ladder. As an aside, know that if a movie called The PS3 Story is ever made, Matt Daemon will be able to play you.

Seriously, I saw a PS3 in a (Japan) Toys R Us yesterday, and played it. It's of course very nice, like a PS2 without any sense of pixels One thing I'm hoping is that I'd be able to hook a PS3 up to a DVI monitor, like the 24 or 30 inch Dell monitors, and get an enjoyable experience. I am a PC gamer, well, a Mac gamer but that's the same thing now (ha-ha), and that's where I game. I hate sitting in front a TV, I hate the idea of buying a mondo expensive TV just to play a game, I hate having to use a controller when a keyboard and mouse are so much better for aiming, and so on. I haven't followed the HDMI thing that closely, but am I correct in assuming that there is no HDMA to DVI, and that I cannot hook a PS3 up to a modern computer monitor?

Peter Payne

Comments on The Engadget Interview: Peter Dille, Sony Computer Entertainment's SVP of Marketing

Peter,

There absolutely is hdmi to dvi cables, no problem, just google hdmi to dvi and you'll find cables and converters

Adam Wroblaski

Comments on The Engadget Interview: Peter Dille, Sony Computer Entertainment's SVP of Marketing

hmmm... he doesn't really know what he's talking about does he? seems more like a corporate puppet to me...

cheekky

Comments on The Engadget Interview: Peter Dille, Sony Computer Entertainment's SVP of Marketing

hello peter dille i just recieved a patent from U.S.gov its a tactile signal producing vest while playing a video game this is the certain future for gamers imagine you can feel everything all around you while you play from what angle you get shot to your last heart beat after a tough battle to rain hitting your torso to the rumbling of the lighting if this aint the next best thing since the controller i dont know what is if intrested hit me back i would gladdly give you my patent # so you can see it every gamer with a console is going to want one of these thank you for your time

Miguel lopez

Comments on The Engadget Interview: Peter Dille, Sony Computer Entertainment's SVP of Marketing

things have changed. i remember the blue screens of death and the laughing. i remember the failures of windows ME. i remember microsoft bob, how bland that company is.

i see also how with halo, j. allard, and online they made you guys turn on sony. you guys dont respect shit, you look down at sony because it has been number one 2 generations running.

you fail to realize microsoft only sells 1,500 xbox360s a week in japan.
