Dell's claim of a 40% increase in performance PER WATT makes sense when you consider you now have twice as much processing power but still just one set of hard/optical drives, fans, graphics cards, etc. They could even have included the accompanying monitor in that figure. MANY benchmarks have shown 75-100% increase in performance (that's called core scaling) in applications that support more than two threads.  Ironically, iTunes does not, but Photoshop CS2 and many video rendering programs do.
