Also while they aren't boasting 50mbit/50mbit internet, I've been quiet happy with their 6mbit connection for a while now. I'll be off at college next year and they are promising to have their 1gbit network setup (that's 1gbit for each room, although that's on Internet2, I don't know how impressive the speeds will be on not I2 sites, but I think I should be a happy camper).

- Tony R.

Tony Rayo

Comments on Time Warner gets fussy with DirecTV over "false advertising"

I have TWC and there is a HD On Demand channel.

Maestro

Comments on Time Warner gets fussy with DirecTV over "false advertising"

My roommate and I noticed an interesting ad by DirectTV not but two weeks ago that was similar to this. It was advertising that Dish was going to be cutting all local broadcast channels to their service. It turns out that the way they worded it didn't really lie, but the only people getting cut were people on outer areas or something, and Dish was just recommending that folks use a TV antenna for their local stations in those odd cases. I'm not sure that DirecTV actually had the service they said Dish was axing.

However, I've had Dish Network, DirecTV, and Insight (our local cable company), and DirecTV is by far the best out of all of them. We've gotten the best package deal for the price, channels, a free-all-the-way-even-per-month DVR, and installers that are actually from DirecTV. My biggest pet peve is that the Dish installers are halfassed folks from another company called HiPower, and the Insight folks are usually mexicans contracted for work. Insight once sent a guy who had his family with him and a dying dog in his truck. The dog really was dying. The family really was watching him work and talking in spanish. The service really is horrible.

phlyingpenguin

Comments on Time Warner gets fussy with DirecTV over "false advertising"

Talk about getting worked up over nothing. DirecTV didn't lie or stretch the truth, would you rather have been more comfortable with the ad stating that games on the NFL network can't be seen on Time warner, unless you live in one of these few select cities where the games are sold out and will broadcast over another channel as long as blackout rules are met? Gee, sounds like a wining disclaimer.
