Why does everything have to be a cell phone??

The added costs of a cell phone are INSANE. iPhone:
Yes it's very sleek looking, and whist Apple are still leading the way in Ergonomic Interfaces - they are also firmly into proprietary exclusivity;
You can't sync an iPhone with Microsoft Outlook (not entirely sure if that's MS shutting them out or Apple snubbing MS users, which, let's face it, is pretty much a global majority)
So the iPhone is a non-starter for anyone who currently sync's their phone with their PC - and who wouldn't sync a smartphone?

The Asus:
As far as convergent devices go, this pretty much has it all;
• It's obviously an evolution of the P525, which runs MSMobile5 - so there's a whole suite of existing Applications & Utilities which can be added on,
• The camera, which even if it's only 2MPix is acceptable for happy-snaps, and Asus also have that funky OCR type business card scanner too,
• Hardware BUTTONS,which anyone who has ever used a touch-screen only device will know really do make a BIG difference, for the better,
• Adding GPS into the mix really rounds this off as an all-in-one.

The only questions that remain as far as I'm concerned will be battery life, and Audio quality (for voice recording, Speakerphone, and streaming MP3 playback to BT headphones).]]>Jan 19th 2007 7:17AM
