A studio that I shoot portraits for on occasion uses Olympus though...and I hate them. They are some of the worst camera's I've ever had to use. The shape doesn't fit your hand, the controls are awkward at best, and the viewfinder picture is small and dull. It doesn't focus very well either. They use E-500s and E-300s, but I haven't played with an E1. It might or might not be better.

But yeah, to say the least, I'm not really too excited about a new camera from Olympus.

Corey

Comments on Olympus revealing new DSLR(s) on March 5th?

Unlike Canon and Nikon, Olympus neither has the marketing dollars nor the user base.

Oly is always last to announce anything and typically in the last few days leading up to PMA. The teaser is probably as sophistacted marketing wise as Oly will ever be. Nobody who has any significant investment in body's and lenses is going to jump ship to Oly and the ad is more for the Oly faithful than anyone else.

Its no surprise that we are seeing the E-410, E-510 and to Oly fans the hopes of the E-3.

I am sure just as you can find someone who hates the composition of a picture, you find someone who "hates" and thinks that a camera is "worst ever". These things are all subjective and for each photog who believes camera A is better than camera B there is another that will tell you why not. A photo is half the tool and half photographer. Just like the megapixel argument, there is no winner here either. On the internet words are all used for "shock" value because that is what everything has come down to.

All the cameras have there pluses and minuses and anyone who says their camera is perfect it may be so for only that one and only person and for the types of pictures that one person takes otherwise todays DSLRs are all very good within their own respective technical specifications.

Anyone who owns a DSLR should pray that Oly or anyone can leap frog because that will force them all to get better and will eventually serve the consumers with better products.

I am an Oly fan and I know what my camera can do without having to bash the other brands who all have their own faults.

Hate them or like them Oly serves many a pro and prosumer very well with their products within its own strengths

Zo

Comments on Olympus revealing new DSLR(s) on March 5th?

ditto. Im an oly fan, btu not to say oly cameras are the best. Pentax makes an attractive setup, and so does nikon, but to me, oly suits my needs the best; I personally do not like too many function in a camera.

It seems that people get way too defensive about the camera manufacturer religion they chose. in todays dslr market, you cant really make a mistake. they are all simply good.

Kentaro yamada

Comments on Olympus revealing new DSLR(s) on March 5th?

It's not the size of your lens. With rumoured in-body stabilisation and bigger viewfinders and more lens choice (cheap f1.8 prime would be nice along with lower noise), things should get interesting.

Good thing they use Mass Storage mode in their cams for driverless connections, too.
