Hands-on with Nikon's P5000
We were immediately struck by the Nikon P5000's size. For a 10 megapixel prosumer hybrid, it's definitely among the smallest we can think of -- almost too small to even accomodate that hot shoe. It's got a very sturdy feel to it -- light, but without feeling at all cheap. We're totally into it; more pics for your longing eyes in the gallery.

Looks like the Canon G7 has its work cut out for it. Does this Nikon have image stab?

Where did you see a price? If it's less than $500 and takes good photos then I think a lot of people will buy it. If it's less than a $1,000 and it takes excellent photos then a lot of people will buy it...

Nikon's site says that the MSRP is $399.95. As the owner of the now ancient 4300, the P5000 looks like a perfect upgrade.

uhm, small? this thing is huge

is it just me or would it be a good idea for these companies showing off their latest, greatest cameras to have a cd of sample photos for each camera they could give to the press? surely compared to the r&d of the camera, a few hundred cds wouldn't cost that much!
i'm interested in looking at the spec and outside of a camera, but i'd really like to know how well it actually takes photographs...

"in the flesh" photos do more for seeing the product more comprehensively, and they often reveal the real character of the product better, too.
I can only speak for myself here, but I dislike company-sanctioned perfectly-lit photos with simulated displays, no fingerprints, etc.

ahh, must be too early here. You want sample photos from the actual cams. Yes, that would be nice assuming the cams are in final versions ready for release, with no additional tweaking to be done.

Does it shoot in RAW? That's the one reason I won't buy a Canon G7.
