I think the current cards go up to 512 MB. I'm not sure if there's a limit on what you copy over (I don't own one), but I know it can at least be used for saved games and probably XBLA games as well. I was under the impression that the 360 did have some USB Mass Storage support, but I haven't played with it myself (though I do have two external hard drives... hrmmm....). The official 360 FAQ confirms this, but it may be read-only -- you can definitely stream movies off an external HDD, but I don't know if you can copy your own media out onto one.

Anyway, I strongly suspect that once the initial wave of Elites sells out, Gamestop will be rife with transfer cables because there's no point in keeping them once you've used them, and even if they only give people a trade-in value of like a dollar or two, that's better than having it sit in the back of a closet for the next ten years. So even if USB mass storage doesn't work out, you can just buy/borrow a transfer cable, since it's very much a one-shot affair.

James

Comments on Mod your 360 with an off-the-shelf 120GB HDD, save $100

What was of interest to me is the following thing the guy who wrote this said:

"Q.
