On the contrary, you have no idea how near or far individual users will be when viewing their televisions—or even if the televisions will be viewed in living rooms rather than restaurants or bars or lobbies or kiosks or mounted on walls in hallways or wherever else—and since most LCD televisions can double as computer monitors, wanting more than 720p or even the 720p-ish 1,366 x 768 is perfectly reasonable. Samung refuses to publish their LCDTV Native CRs at all so it is all but impossible to compare the screens with models like the Sharps(not that the NCR is necessarily telling of the LCD quality). Someone need to get on the ball and standardize the specification system. i am picking one up today for about USD 850 here in thailand. expect U.S. prices to be much lower, perhaps 700 - 750.

-Contrast numbers on these sets are bloated, like all LCD displays, but the contrast on my Samsung, any way, is awesome.

Originally they did say QAM tuner but since I purchased my TV they have removed all instances of QAM from every TV line even current 5 and 7 series.
