HP needs to pull themselves together and start shipping the new NVIDIA GPU with their 14.1" notebooks. Also, what the hell is with the new laptops running with an 800MHz FSB with PC2-5300 RAM? Hello, where is DDR3, or at least PC2-6400 for notebooks. Dual channel mode of PC2-6400 would run at 12.8GB/s, whereas the current PC2-5300 runs only at 10.6GB/s in dual channel. Geeze!!! Lastly, HP seriously, where the hell is the option for 100GB 7200RPM HD's? At least give us that, since it's been on the market for more than 1.5 years!!!

Brandy

Comments on HP gets official with new laptop lineup

The press kit also said the dv6000 series would have a HD DVD-ROM option, but I don't see that one either...

http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press_kits/2007/mobilitysummit/na_consumernb.pdf

jschmier

Comments on HP gets official with new laptop lineup

What's with the lack of ExpressCard in most of HP's business laptops? Many of the new Pavilion notebooks are also supposed to be able to be configured with a HD DVD-ROM drive, but that is not available either. Going from 160GB/5400 to 100GB/7200 has almost no speed advantage - better seek times, but same or worse transfer rate depending on how much data is on the drive.

I am just gnashing my teeth because HD speed is really the only issue with my middle-aged Centrino Duo 2GHz.
