The MacBook is just an option to show that the price of small, light weight laptops have fallen to the point where I can get a 1200X800 14" wide screen device capable of running OSX and Vista in one device for a low entry price point. If I wanted bigger and heavier, the HP 5XX was released yesterday running neutered Vista business and is only capable is basic functions and is not capable of the complete Vista multimedia experience.

And why would you want to put Vista on a UPMC. Vista is sluggish on my T6600 Core2Duo Desktop with 4 gig of Ram, 4Gig of Ready Boost, and a 7950 NVidia graphics adapter when compared with XP.

And with a promised batery life of 7 hours, five should be realistic, wich is at least one hour more than i get on my ibook.

and no, a macbook isnt "better", its a whole different thing. A macbook (or any other "bigger" laptop for that matter) is great for working on "big things" (long reports, drawing stuff, heavy computing (mathematica...), a bit of gaming, heavy multitasking (at the moment i have running two email clients, two writing apps, two browsers, ical, iphoto, itunes, preview, aktivity monitor, terminal and a printer programm, must of it with multiple windows or tabs).
A umpc on the other hand is (or better said should be) usefull for lighter tasks, like just surfing and mailing, or taking notes and other lighter tasks, that you have to do all day, for example in classes, or at a meeting with a client ... where it is more important to have a light device with good battery life and a small footprint, than to have big computing power and a big screen.

so i would like to have both, a macbook and a umpc (with a small linux), but there are three things still missing: usable designs, realistic prices and a syncing solution, so that i can take my macbook or my umpc, depending on my dayliy needs without having to worry that my current work is on the device that i dont have with me.
