This seems similar to the Logitech Wireless DJ... I was excited about it ever since it was announced, but it didn't seem to live up to the hype (the music stuttered, plus I didn't like how it seemed to convert the music into an analog format and the transmit it wirelessly over Bluetooth 2.0). Why not just use Wi-Fi? And the Squeezebox is nice, but the remote has no display.

The disadvantage with this is that I'd be limited to the songs on my iPod, but at least the music should sound as good as the iPod. And I guess it is a lot cheaper than the DJ. If it's implemented well, I may buy.

I really just want a way to listen to my music on a stereo and be able to select/control the music with a remote equipped with a display. I'm surprised there aren't more options.

Craig

Comments on DLO's HomeDock Music Remote mimics your iPod screen

Is that the Alphaville 'Forever Young' or the Tyketto one...

RikF

Comments on DLO's HomeDock Music Remote mimics your iPod screen

Without WiFi forget it.

BobbyW

Comments on DLO's HomeDock Music Remote mimics your iPod screen

What i really want is just a dock that will display the ipod screen on my tv when its connected while browsing and playing music, not just playing video or photos. The ipod should allow a constant video out with an optional setting, or only when its plugged into ac power. anyone have any suggestions?
I realize the apple tv does this, but i dont really want one... I used to have my media center pc in the living room, but lately i just extend it through my 360 so no more itunes directly on my bravia.

jeff

Comments on DLO's HomeDock Music Remote mimics your iPod screen

Onkyo (and others, though the Onkyo one seems to be the best regarded implementation) have optional docks for their AV receivers that do everything you want. No remote on the screen, but it does replicate full iPod navigation on the TV, and displays album art for your music as well. Not sure why Engadget is so down on a practicial product at a reasonable price when it gives so much coverage to an $800 cell phone.

I think this product solves the challenge for people who don't want to have their tv or projector on all the time when they listen to music.

The downside, I'm sure the docking station has worse audio output than the ipod itself.

coprock
