Not at all... I live here (there?) and there's a really big movement of like... 30-35 year olds who grew up in NY in the 80s and 90s and are nostalgic for the gritty, edgy city of those times.

New York is quickly becoming LA... which sucks.

Hell the cover story on the latest issue of Time Out New York is entitled "This Hipster Must Die: How to bring back New York cool."

I highly recommend listening to the new LCD Soundsystem song "New York I Love You (But You're Bringing Me Down.)"

hopefully they make it so that cabbies cant pretend that their card swipey things are broken to avoid having to wait two weeks to get paid... Yeah, that thinking is about as wishful as hoping cab fares will go down when the entire fleet goes "green" in a couple of years. Of course, those companies will make a pretty penny on the backs of immigrant drivers.
You have never driven a cab in NYC if you think a good way to make money is by taking people the long way, that is nonsense since the fares from the airport are mostly fixed.
