Not you personally, but I've met your kind. I won't compare specs because it's not how fast the machine is or how much RAM it has. The machine is about how damn small it is, that being a useful factor in and of itself. Then you will compare it to a 14" dell and declare that 8.9" a pointless form factor, as if there was a single form factor that was ideal for all purposes and individuals. And I'm not interested in having that argument for the 15th goddamned time on the internet.

arthur barnhouse

Comments on Fujitsu's 8.9-inch Lifebook P8240 Vista tablet: 32GB SSD at just 2.1-pounds

Gotta say that the beauty is in the form factor. The Asus EEE is in an entirely other (sub) class. I'm typing from one right now. The only difference in mine over this spec'ed model is the SSD. I'm waiting for Samsung to roll out their 64gb SSD that Fujitsu has tagged for this computer (along with Apple, Sony, etc).

I have to say, after using my P1610 for three weeks now, it's now my new all time fave computing device. I've been a long time ultralight notebook user (IBM Thinkpads 600, X20, Fujitsu P1220, P2120, Sony Vaio T250 (for sale btw!)), and this is the latest ultralight I've gotten.

Keyboard's small, but I still touchtype at about 75wpm on it (my max speed is around 95). Screen's good and bad - poor viewing angles, too-bright gloss coating, but when you have the angles right, it looks gorgeous. Resolution is (I can't believe I'm saying this) too high - very squint inducing, but a quick custom setting of the fonts in Display fix most issues. WiFi is solid, speed is okay (not the fastest, but faster than my Vaio VGN-T250) and most importantly for me, small, tight, and light.

I'm hoping the 64gb SSD will help with a) heat issues, b) battery life (already good, but not as good as the transmetta powered P1210/P1220), c) speed. I'd be willing to pay $500, $600, maybe even $700 for the ssd once the price settles a bit to get the extras it offers.

Mark

Comments on Fujitsu's 8.9-inch Lifebook P8240 Vista tablet: 32GB SSD at just 2.1-pounds

I'm very interested in buying your Sony t250.
