My impression is that it's an okay quality cheap 24 inch display; it definitely looks worse than my Dell 2001FP, but it's not a bad display by any means (especially compared to the price of the 2407). My biggest complaint would be the vertical viewing angle. It looks really nice cosmetically; probably better than my Dell, though when handling it you can tell it's of a lower build quality. I can't tune this one to match the other display right now because of the broken button, so it's currently way too bright. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to stay with this model yet. I think I might exchange this one and then decide whether or not to keep the new one after using it for a week or so.

Michael

Comments on Samsung announces 245BW and 226CW widescreen monitors

There is a product by the same description at newegg.com
Is this article referring to the this product or another one ?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001234

W.Okd

Comments on Samsung announces 245BW and 226CW widescreen monitors

Yep, that's the one. TN films have a notoriously horrible vertical viewing angle, and are 6 bit with dithering giving you 16.2m colors. The benefits are cheap production price and fast response times. The T models are S-PVA true 8 bit panels giving you the full 16.7m colors but are a bit more expensive. Response times are higher but honestly not very noticible. For more info go google TN, S-IPS, and S-PVA.

revn06

Comments on Samsung announces 245BW and 226CW widescreen monitors

Did you hear about that discovery about the samsung panel mayhem? seems they sell some models monitors with 3 different panels, samsung, AU, and some chinese one, and it's VERY hard to find out what panel is in it but the model number is always the same yet there is a quality difference between the panels obviously.
So now you can't trust reviews on samsung monitors anymore, reviewer gets a samsung panle in it, says it's great, you buy one and it might have a chinese backlightbleeding panel and are unhappy.

Wwhat

Comments on Samsung announces 245BW and 226CW widescreen monitors

I'm pretty sure the 245BW isn't new...

TrueDis

Comments on Samsung announces 245BW and 226CW widescreen monitors

The major weakness of the 226BW is the poor vertical viewing angle in which nothing can be done. The only difference between it and the 226BW is the Wide Color Gamut backlight. Samsung has assured that they are now the only company producing the screens for these monitors, which is why the A,C,& S are now gone from the back of the monitor. Its hard to find right now, but I definitely recommend it.

J
