This is *never* a suprise.  Ask *any* company with any sense "are you going to have this cheaper next week?" and they're not going to tell you.  They don't want sales to cut off for a week then face supply problems.<br><br>The *answer* isn't the problem.  The *question* was stupid. I know it's 1 mabey 2 gens above whats out there but it seems a liitle bit of hubris to think that that it's just a matter waiting out the competitions technological half-life. <br><br>I think, just like every platform out there, it's the content (which is why they spend so heavily in software). These games need to reach the level of art and literature to really utilize the raw power od the PS3. And invole a user experience is breaks out of the "Gamer" mode (button input) and provide a more imersive experience. They should've already happend in hind-sight. I bought my PSP to be my Sony iPod and for web-browsing/TV watching. I think it was an honest, straightforward set of questions and answers that was quite refreshing.<br><br>I own all three "next-gen" systems, and I'm really pulling for Sony to do well.  They pushed the envelope for technology to a whole new level.  In 10 years, I don't doubt the PS3 will outdo the 360. They talk about software being key, but they currently have nothing that makes me want to go out and buy their system.  If ps3 never gets established in the begining, there will be no "10-year cycle."  They still have time to convince me. Have you even cared to look at the Press Conference and how many exclusives Sony is pulling? (Unreal Tournament 3!!! =O) I see a lot of games coming. It's just that they're not out yet. Stop with the "But there's no games" crap. Right, there IS no (as in, not many) game, but there WILL be a lot of games.<br><br>This interview made me think Sony might win against the X-Box 360 in about a year or two from now, when many must-have games come out. (in relation to if the PS3 was getting rumble controllers) and Jack Tretton said "You'd be surprised, it's a big company!"   <br><br>That statement clearly signifies why we can't trust Sony. Sony US announced a price drop, but Sony JP might not have been clear that the drop is only until the stock of 60gb PS3's is gone (like everyone is figuring).<br><br>Either way, they've still got one 499 SKU and one 599 SKU (once the new PS3 model comes out) so nothing has really changed. For what it's worth, Sony seems content to keep the 499 SKU a rarity and push the 599 SKU with all their might.
