If you're building a HTPC.. you better stick with HDMI if you ever want to use BD or HD-DVD. And, HDMI is evolving as well.. the HDMI1.3 standard offers double the transmission rate as 1.2. DisplayPort will at least peacefully co-exist with HDMI, and even pass through HDMI signals to HDMI devices using an adapter. AND it will include support for HDCP 1.3. If it really is true that using this connectivity method is cheaper than HDMI, how is this even remotely bad for consumers? Aside from having to buy an adapter of course. They go for burning the DVD's stright up. Hopefully (but I doubt) this will kill
the stupid HDMI standard. Also hopefully it can have longer cords then the stupid legenths
