22-inch iZ3D LCDs are now available just under a grand

Your boring old desktop, now in 3D! Or at least if iZ3D has anything to say about it. The new 22-inch iZ3D widescreen 3D gaming monitor just hit iZ3D's online store for an almost-palatable $999. The displays run off of included S-3D drivers, which are supported by the NVIDIA GeForce 8 Series, and ATI's FireGL V3600 workstation graphics card. There are also DirectX 8 and 9 drivers for XP and Vista, so you should be able to score some sort of 3D content without having to run out and buy new rig. The 3D tech uses passive polarized glasses to create the 3D effect, and feeds off of dual output video cards. The display itself boasts of a 1680 x 1050 resolution, 5ms response time and 600:1 contrast ratio.

However, $1000 for a monitor is quite expensive.
Sure it has the 3D feature they claim. But, $1000 is a lot of money.
More power to those who can afford it.

You are right at that, it is a lot of money for a computer monitor.
But personally, I had expected it to cost a lot more, I was actually expecting around $2000 or more.

Actually, $1000 is fairly reasonable for high-end LCDs made for graphic designers.

Looking at the specifications of this monitor, it looks like it might be using a TN-panel.
Those are NOT for professional usage.

If you meant monitors for professional usage in general, and not specifically this one, then I agree with you. :)

Ummm... What happened to all the 3d monitors and plasma screens from CES 2004 in which you DIDN'T need glasses?? I've been very patient to see those screens outside the conference in stores!

Not sure who covered that year, but seems like everyone missed the cellphone 3d screens, 3d plasma displays and monitors, all with no glasses needed...

Actually...the one's you saw at CES are all geared toward corporate usage. Such as, having a 3D panel in the lobby of your headquarters. It doesn't require glasses, but it has approximately 30-32 dead spots in which there is no 3D. Take for example the LG panel. Approximately a 42" panel, with a wide viewing angle and numerous dead spots. The picture in which is shown on the panel has to be rendered and re-rendered numerous times to be run on the panel. There's nothing at CES that was geared for the consumer. Especially in terms of price. I think that LG panel went for a little over $20K. I know it sounds like I know alot, but I've always been very interested in S3D gaming and viewing. This monitor is a big day for me. I finally get my own 3D panel.
