When you get your xbox back, go on xbox live and just randomly poll people as you play games. When I did that I found it to be about 15%, which is still huge, but still far less that the 1/3 number that gets thrown around. Other people on xbox live have reported similar numbers. Thats weird enough, but when I dropped off my box at a UPS store closer to my house the guy there asked "are you just dropping off...oh wait, you are going to want a receipt for that. xbox right?" This is the plainest of boxes you can imagine, and the shipping label only lists an address in texas, no mention of Microsoft. The guy in a small ups store in chicago says he gets about one a day. Not sure what kind of numbers that translates too, but seems like a very high failure rate for any consumer electronic.

That said, this is "the fix" for the RROD. My has been fixed in this nature for several months without issue, while my dad has returned his 360 twice already.
