Having said that, that's an absolutely pathetic upgrade, in fact, the word upgrade shouldn't even be applied to this at all. More memory doesn't seem to do much to improve performance and the few millimeters off the width isn't exactly revolutionary. It's clear that Sony did this just to have a reason to talk about it again and hope for a bump in sales. But this will end up biting them in the ass as people once again gets disappointed with them. They should've took their time and released a true 2nd generation PSP with proper upgrades.

wrabbit

Comments on Joystiq answers questions about Sony's slimmer PSP

It doesn't seem like that great of an upgrade to the normal psp, the tv output is nice but that's been done. Sony did not add dual analog sticks (something the PSP community has been begging for) and no built in hard drive. The good thing though is that the latest update which includes the TV out immediately made UMDs worth something. I could only take watching movies on the small PSP screen before my eyeballs transformed into twin flaming orbs. I could see the new PSP acting as a portable DVD player. Maybe your travelling and want to show friends a cool movie. Just hook up the PSP TV out and your on your way.

The game library is impressive though. I guess I will hold out for the PSP 3. Maybe it will have touch screen controls or something snazzy like that...

bhuddamonk
