NEC has a good reputation for monitors, and that 24 incher looks sweet: 5ms response time, 178 degree viewing angles, 24-bit (16.7 million colors), DVI and HDMI, plus built in speakers to boot. Manufacturers will say anything. Something more telling is contrast ratio and price. They will most surely be VA panels, probably PVA. The contrast is still set at 60% and the brightness is set at 44%,  and this is after running for almost 10 hours a day.
