Logitech intros Cordless Vantage Headset, MediaBoard Pro for PS3
Following up on the original Cordless MediaBoard, Logitech has recently unveiled the Bluetooth-enabled MediaBoard Pro and tossed in the Cordless Vantage Headset for good measure. These PS3 peripherals make chatting it up whilst gaming quite an easy feat, and while the rechargeable headset provides "an ambidextrous behind-the-head design and an adjustable noise canceling microphone," the MediaBoard Pro sports a piano black finish, a dedicated Menu button, and of course, the circle / square / X / triangle buttons as well. As for the headset (shown after the break), expect it to land this November in the US (December for Europe) for $79.99, while the new 'board should hit both markets in October for the same price.

no xbox 360 love for the headset? but, it's pretty...
Temple @ Sep 12th 2007 11:32AM
That's because the PS3 uses plain-ol' Bluetooth. For the Xbox 360, Logitech would need to sign up for Microsoft's peripheral licensing program and pay a fee.
reference.

Can these keyboards be used with FPS games? I prefer the keyboard/mouse combo for FPS games as I never adjusted to the use of a controller. Let me know please.
apeguero @ Sep 12th 2007 9:51AM
Silly me. Need more coffee. When I say FPS games, I mean PS3 FPS games.

I've been waiting for a cheap BT KBM solution for the PS3.. now they need to make the brower faster and with better compatibility.

It will work on PS3 games that support the keyboard such as the upcoming PS3 FPS Unreal Tournament... http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/04/unreal-tournament-3-for-ps3-to-bring-keyboard-and-mouse-support/

Boy that thing is sleek! It’s like the Darth Vader Personal Edition keyboard!
However Vader wouldn't use the headset piece, its not evil looking enough!

and this is what i get for not waiting... I bought logitech's first keyboard for the ps3 then they go and release a cooler looking one that has the added buttons needed to make it fully functional.
maybe i can get them to upgrade me like i got nyko to upgrade me....
flameskeleton @ Sep 12th 2007 10:42AM
lucky me!!! i was gonna buy the old gray version a few weeks ago, but thought maybe i should wait for a bit. seems that my wait is gonna pay off.

Something tells me it will still have a USB dongle just like the previous board despite it's Bluetooth name. Funny how they're putting BT in these peripherals but still using USB dongles.....boggles the mind.
Until I know it's not dongle-restrained im not even going to consider.
thaylinsgate @ Sep 12th 2007 11:07AM
The reason it might come with a BT dongle is so it can be used with non Blue Toothed devices. But you don't need to use the Dongle with the PS3, just pair it up. This way you can use it on an old laptop or PC with the dongle. Or use the dongle with your BT Headset from Warhawk on your PC for Skype chat.

Any idea if this will work on a Mac? It's bluetooth right? I use a mac mini in my home theater setup and would LOVE a keyboard with integrated trackpad like this!!
I've looked around and shockingly a decent bluetooth keyboard with trackpad is hard to come by...

I have this question too. I am going to be buying an iMac for HT activities. I also have a PS3. It would be sweet if I can use this keyboard for both of those purposes.
diceburna @ Sep 12th 2007 3:06PM
It will work fine
MG @ Feb 25th 2008 10:51PM
Yes, it works like charm... but I think I read some where that there is a FIX/Patch to help solve the lack of COMMAND key situation... I've got 3 mac machines that I work on (regularly) and I'm so use to the shortcuts. So, does anyone know how to reassign/fix this problem? Thanx in adv.

Finally the trackpad meets the keyboard. Now Apple needs to trim a little off the width of the new *wired* keyboard, add a multi-touch pad where the number pad is, and you have yourself something special.

finally my prayers have been heared ...

I'm just a poor old man........my eyes are poor, my nose is knackered, but ... is the X key on the ESC button and the circle on the return key?? Seems a bit senseless to me ... should have been the other way round!
David @ Sep 12th 2007 12:19PM
I wonder if it would work on a HTPC.. I like the look and design!

I wish they would release something similar for PCs even without the desktop. This'll be good for compact workspaces.
Hal @ Sep 12th 2007 7:37PM
I do prefer a keyboard and a separate mouse like on PCs.
About peripherals, look at this POLL for a 3D visor on PS3!

While it will work with a Mac since there is no Windows/Apple?Command key that makes it less than optimal.
