I also wonder if there isn't an AT command that can pull the GPS data out of the baseband, as I bet there actually *is* an e911-use-only GPS in the GSM module.

solution 2 would be a separate gps map application on top of iphone that connects to gps via bluetooth. (no need to download maps)
