you can plug your cell headset into it, like a pass thru, so if your cell lacks mp3, you now have one.

that's what makes it different than a shuffle or stone.

and no, I guess that's unconfirmed, i didn;t read it anywhere, I got it by putting 2 and 2 together. it has a secondary headphone jack, and it has mute buttons right on the face. 4 buttons, 2 are mute on/off. seems clear.
