We are probably in for a bit of a wait.

But the 5D is now the oldest camera in Canon's DSLR lineup, so it makes sense that it would get a face lift for March. Speed was the only thing really holding me back from the 5D. I might have to upgrade if it's replaced with something faster...

Adam

Comments on Canon's EOS 7D gets its very own UPC?

Canon's numbering system for the various tiers of their EOS cameras have always followed that lower numbers mean a better quality camera which is more professional. This either means that Canon is wanting to introduce yet another tier between the 5D and 40D (which is unlikely since there is hardly any room there), or that this is fake, or perhaps Canon is following in the footsteps of Apple with the iPhone.....

Let me explain. As a photographer I know many people who have been eagerly awaiting the release of an update to the 5D. Many sites and people have called this the 7D. Perhaps Canon is just playing to them, like Apple did in naming the iPhone, because everybody was already calling it that anyway. Personally I figured that the update would be the 5D mk II, but perhaps that designation can only be applied to the top professional 1D series cameras. Canon could implement the increasing numbering system of the double digit and triple digit lines, like the 20, 30, and 40d, or the 300, 350, and 400d, by just jumping up a couple digits, while staying in single digits, while keeping their top PRO line at 1D.

I also went to that site and sent in a request for that entry to be deleted, asking for them to validate it with Canon because it was likely to be fake. Never used that site before, but it said they would review the request. I guess if it stays then it's for real?

I know much of this is speculation, but as I am really needing to update my camera soon (reaching end of shutter life), I live and die by these kind of rumors!!

duke

Comments on Canon's EOS 7D gets its very own UPC?

Very keen to see the specs on this if it is real...
