Zune gets a "Car Pack" for FM transmitting
Zune boys and Zune girls, it's time to get your collective underwear in a bunch over some hot new accessory action -- namely, the Zune Car Pack. The automotive add-on features an FM transmitter, plus a grip-pad and charger, so you can crank your lossless WMAs of Countdown to Extinction without having to take your eyes off the road... or suffer the embarrassment and danger of driving with earphones in. The transmitter stores your two favorite (read: least static-filled) stations, so you won't have to remember any complicated digits, and can be all yours on November 13th for $79.99.

so basically...itrip only more expensive?
and i am definately NOT a mac fan boy...
Zeek @ Oct 8th 2007 3:52PM
First! Oh wait- this is a Zune post? Shit. Undo!
Go ahead- that's what the red dash is for.
Nex @ Oct 8th 2007 4:48PM
i believe it is a white dash in a red box...
Zeek @ Oct 9th 2007 10:28AM
Me and Nex are why comments should be banned.
Delvis343 @ Oct 8th 2007 3:53PM
Sounds cool, too bad no one has a Zune. Isn't the same thing out for the IPod
Nex @ Oct 8th 2007 5:26PM
no one has a zune.. there are 3 just in my house.. so am i no one?
Nex @ Oct 8th 2007 5:28PM
you know on second thought... i realize what you meant by "no one" its a popularity contest... i get it now, only cool people have ipods right...
insertAlias @ Oct 8th 2007 5:59PM
No, I think that he meant that relative to the market leader, few people have the Zune. He did make a generalization, but his point is valid. He didn't say it sucked or that only cool people had the iPod.
You kinda jumped all over his ass for nothing...Defensive...
John @ Oct 8th 2007 9:23PM
uh, no, saying "no one" means "nobody". It's hardly being defensive if someone is making a pointless hyperbolic statement that is only meant to insult anyone who actually bought the product.
castleinsider @ Oct 8th 2007 3:53PM
Who cares about the Zune, only dumb americans actually buy it, not to mention the underpowered ipods. Just goes to show you how ahead the Brits are in terms of technology. We're the best in the world, no one even comes close, especially not the americans.
Matt O @ Oct 8th 2007 3:56PM
f*ck you.
rndmnme @ Oct 8th 2007 3:59PM
That's laughable.
rp @ Oct 8th 2007 4:00PM
...and especially not the big baddass asian country that makes almost every product for you.
Miguel @ Oct 8th 2007 4:03PM
Yes, only dumb Americans buy it because it's only available to us. I'm sure if it were available there, you Brits would demonstrate your technological proficiency by snapping 'em up.
Doesn't exclusivity hurt?
strider_mt2k @ Oct 8th 2007 4:08PM
Oh go fix the oil leak in...oh just about everything out of GB.
PK @ Oct 8th 2007 4:20PM
Don't feed the trolls, kiddies: Castleinsider has posted a variation on this same comment three times on totally unrelated Engadget posts.
metal @ Oct 8th 2007 4:27PM
How far ahead the Brits are in technology? Name the last technological advancement the Brits have made of any relevance.
If you were to replace Brits with say, Koreans, Taiwanese or Japanese you might have ground to stand on ( while still being horribly racist ).
In fact, why dont you do an Engadget search for British. The first page that comes up is full of British 'big brother' legislation on technology. Well that and some stupid intergalactic currency that, even if it does take off, wont be of any use to anyone until everyone reading or working at this blog is dead.
castleinsider @ Oct 8th 2007 4:48PM
LOL "Name the last technological advancement the Brits have made of any relevance. "
How about the entire internet? Without the british, the internet wouldn't exist. Just goes to show american ignorance at its finest.
GoreForPresident @ Oct 8th 2007 4:56PM
Dude, Al Gore invented the internet...
Nex @ Oct 8th 2007 4:56PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet#Creation
"...the first two nodes of what would become the ARPANET were interconnected between UCLA and SRI International in Menlo Park, California, on October 29, 1969. The ARPANET was one of the "eve" networks of today's Internet."
hmm without the british we wouldnt have the internet huh.. get your facts straight
metal @ Oct 8th 2007 4:56PM
oh the internet? you mean the network based on the U.S. organization DARPA's research? That internet?
Constable Odo @ Oct 8th 2007 5:41PM
The last British invention of any consequence was either Stonehenge or Benny Hill. I'm not sure which was funnier. A pile of rocks or a fat man with a cheeky gob. Well, they're both ancient history now.
adam @ Oct 8th 2007 6:25PM
Hey, we don't need to insult our British friends just because of one dumb wanker.
Paul @ Oct 8th 2007 6:34PM
DON'T FEED THE TROLL
http://enigma.dune.net/~eric/Do-not-feed-the-troll.PNG
John @ Oct 8th 2007 9:24PM
yeah, yeah, don't feed the troll... but this is just amusing. When's the last time you met someone who was convinced that the internet originated outside of the US? I mean, if that was true, maybe less people would hate the US and its stranglehold on ICANN.
bob e @ Oct 8th 2007 3:57PM
itrip... what is that?
whenever I see those logo's I want to get a tattoo...
Bring on the new Zunes! I can hardly wait.
McGinley @ Oct 8th 2007 3:58PM
I've just realised the zune logo is pretty sexy...i think i might go get a tattoo...
Ricardo @ Oct 8th 2007 4:00PM
engadget editors are ifanatics...Zune FTW...!!!
JHDesign @ Oct 8th 2007 4:28PM
That is a hideous looking piece of garbage. 4 buttons, a tiny display and some light bulb shaped transmitter that looks like a missing piece to an 80's board game. However, the logo looks nice.
Trace The Hedgehog @ Oct 8th 2007 10:26PM
What do you mean "tiny display"?! It's a fucking FM transmitter not a portable DVD player!
Canizorro @ Nov 16th 2007 4:38PM
That's the car charger, not the transmitter dummy.
Pedro @ Oct 8th 2007 4:28PM
OK, so sweet Megadeth reference, but what's that got to do with anything?
Oh fuck that... who needs an excuse for thrash metal!?
kcar @ Oct 8th 2007 4:29PM
A Zune?!? Oh, I must have a Zune. They're so great. Why, I bought 10 Zunes and they all work perfectly. I keep squirting myself, one Zune to the next. What a bold, flawless design!
And Vista is such a joy to use! I haven't had a second of trouble with Vista. No, all those slowdowns and freezes are *my* fault. It's so great that Microsoft took the time to do things right and release such a fine, fine OS.
And I have no problem--no, none at all--with my Xbox's Red Ring of Death. Oh sure, it's happened to me on three different machines, but hey: I can wait a few weeks while MS fixes the problem.
Thank God for Microsoft. What an innovative, pro-consumer company. I can't wait to see what it's going to do to us next.
simon @ Oct 8th 2007 5:05PM
Quid.... The Brits just invented the Quid... Check the earlier post on Engadget...
n3rdk1d @ Oct 8th 2007 4:45PM
the retardation in the comments on this story is quite hilarious. first we got mac fanboys letting us know their inner thoughts. then comes a brit bragging how awesomely cool his country is technology wise.
to the apple fanboys: sorry a zune article is taking space up from your daily worship of all that is jobs. i suggest finding a mac-only blog.
to the brits: you haven't advanced anything since WW2. get over yourself. ;) ;P
Joshua Mattick @ Oct 8th 2007 4:47PM
I think it's funny that for every Zune and iPod post, the Apple fanboys come out the woodwork.
kcar @ Oct 8th 2007 6:37PM
Lauren, such a potty-mouth. Too bad you're still stuck with MS.
Have a special day.
Zach @ Oct 8th 2007 5:00PM
"Car Pack", how imaginative.
j10sanders@hotmail.com @ Oct 8th 2007 5:27PM
does it always have to be imaginative?
Zach @ Oct 8th 2007 5:49PM
Creativity always helps.
Ed @ Oct 8th 2007 5:56PM
It's Hideous.
On a side note, the zune boys link should point to "What sort of man gets three zune tatoos?"
Ross @ Oct 8th 2007 6:28PM
Ignoring the Yank-baiting (some of us Brits actually quite like you guys), I think what the guy meant was the WWW (invented by Sir Tim Berners-Lee) rathet than the Internet.
As for Brits advancing technology... are you enjoying your iPhones (powered by ARM processors {made in Cambridge} and designed by Londoner Jonathan Ive) ?
:-)
castleinsider @ Oct 8th 2007 8:38PM
exaclty, well said Ross, thanks. They're just too many Americans on here who thier country is the best on the world. LOL they need to take a reality check. NAME one significant American technological advancement after WW2. You cant, so stop the ignorance. Please for the sake of all of us.
BigBirdUK @ Oct 8th 2007 7:00PM
castletroll. I'm a Brit and frankly i'm more than a bit embarrased with your behaviour. We invented the expression "wank", and if the hat fits.......
metal @ Oct 8th 2007 7:07PM
castleinsider:
predator drone. Americans may not produce the best consumer technology, but our military technology is pretty hard to beat.
BigBirdUK @ Oct 8th 2007 7:14PM
@metal
And your military technology has achieved what exactly in terms of pacification and nation building in Iraq exactly?
metal @ Oct 8th 2007 7:39PM
@ Big Bird.
Please. I dont think the ARM processors in the apple iphone is exactly a stellar leap in terms of world peace.
World peace isnt a technology issue, its about leadership. If you want to talk trash about US leadership, feel free. I'll honestly admit I dont feel we're going in the right direction.
Castle insider wanted an example and I gave it to him.
Mike Corey @ Oct 8th 2007 7:03PM
I really hope this is better than the last zune car pacl. the last one was crap crap crap crap crap. absolute junk. completely not worth even half of the 80 i paid. http://www.condescension.net/2007/09/17/review-zune-car-pack/
Tarek Salti @ Oct 8th 2007 8:35PM
When are they coming out with a charger with AUX out? All new cars have an AUX adapter in it. I dont want two wires coming out my Zune.
Boaz @ Oct 8th 2007 8:35PM
Megadeth reference FTW.
