AMD casually intros new 45-watt processors

Shortly after (quietly) unveiling the Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition, AMD has used a similar tactic with a half dozen more processors. The new 45-watt offerings span the Athlon X2, Athlon and Sempron lines, and come in like so (with prices reflecting batches of 1,000): the 2.3GHz Athlon X2 BE-2400 ($104), 2.4GHz Athlon LE-1620 ($53), 2.2GHz Athlon LE-1600 ($47), 2.2GHz Sempron LE-1250 ($53), 2.1GHz Sempron LE-1200 ($48) and the 1.9GHz Sempron LE-1100 ($37). No word yet on what OEMs will be integrating these chips into their machines, but we wouldn't be surprised to see 'em filter into smaller, more energy-conscious rigs.

Does anyone know where I can find comparisons for these chips vs Core2 processors? I am still using a lowly PentiumD as my CPU and am looking for a very cost effective upgrade. I am no longer interested in the battle between Intel and AMD, as it only gets better for the consumer as days go by one way or the other.

Who cares about this... Where is the Phenom already. I am still holding out for the x4 phenom true quad core chips. Come on AMD give us the Phenon...

As a note new egg is selling the new AMD quad core Opty 1.9Ghz per core. SO hopefully AMD will get the Phenom to us soon.

i dont really understand the significance of the 5000+ X2 BlackBox (2.6GHZ) when they are up to 6400+ X2 BlackBox (3.2GHZ)

im holding out for a Phenom before i upgrade from my 3800+ X2. they are going to be socket AM2 compatible right?

I hope so, my shuttle is a bit behind the times with a 4000+ ee 65w, wish they would release them already and concentrating on making those processors more efficient.
