Because I lose or leave flash drives like I lose pencils and pens. Minute I bought a $50 dollar pen 6 or so years ago I still have it to this day because it's too damn expensive to forget about.

Sure it's a stupid reason...but I'm paying for the psychological impact and emotional scarring of blowing $260 bucks on a flash drive!

Okay, really though. $260 dollars for a nickel plated flash drive? For that much I want it to tase people who tease me about my expensive flash drive.

I keep killing the generic ones with plastic cases, so I've only been buying high quality metal-cased drives lately. And since microSD doesn't plug into my USB port, I would say it's not a "drive".

I can see where people would want something lighter and think that's good, but others prefer quality and oftentimes, in certain products, quality comes with weight (Vertu Ascent or Nokia 8600, or a Mercedes or Aston Martin).
