iPhone / iPod touch v1.1.1 jailbreak code posted
Well if you like looking through line after line of incomprehensible programming gibberish, make sure to hit up the Read link below, in which the TIFF exploit-based firmware v1.1.1 jailbreak code from team Toc2rta is posted in its entirety. More of an academic exercise for curious geeks than a useful bit of knowledge for the average iPod owner, we're sure there's still some interest out there in seeing exactly how this hack was developed. And as usual, if you do decide to go about 'breaking your device as previously described on these pages, we're, like, totally not responsible for any undesired consequences.

Thanks for sharing. This will help strengthen the hacker community in a good way.

I hope iFuntastic v5 for iPhone 1.1.1 comes out soon. I'd really like to have my custom alarm sounds back, and get rid of the pink I-Store advertisement spam on MY phone's home screen.

Hi, the iPhone and iPod Touch aren't actually the same height.
Khris @ Oct 21st 2007 2:20PM
It's Engadget's new Anal Retentive detector. Congratulations, you've proved it works.
larry @ Oct 22nd 2007 3:30AM
well, one of them is a bit further, it's called perspective ;)
Zack Danielak @ Oct 21st 2007 1:51PM

you'll see this on apple's website
www.apple.com/webapps and click "more info"..or whatever and last time i check the ipods had AT&T next to a signal bar on them. weird.
anyways, i have this working on my ipod, you should give it a try, unless your worried about breaking the warranty and all
bugmat @ Oct 21st 2007 3:41PM
Interesting...
Zack Daniels @ Oct 21st 2007 2:01PM
and really its been out for a week or two
Argot @ Oct 21st 2007 6:43PM
Yeah, so it will probably work for at least another week.
Tarvus Domicus @ Oct 21st 2007 2:30PM
Thanks Khris for proving Engadget's new tool detector. You are a tool and now everyone knows it. If a site isn't accurate don't bother posting at all.
Khris @ Oct 21st 2007 8:33PM
Now that was witty. Using the same idea as the one I just burned you with! Wow! You sure are clever! Wanker!
If you can't be original, please don't bother posting at all. KayThanksBye!
Jhongerkong @ Oct 21st 2007 8:42PM
I believe it pronounced "kthnxbai"
Khris @ Oct 21st 2007 9:13PM
I see you're setting off the Engadget Anal meter too! Bravo!

This is interesting. The PSP exploit was also based on an image vulnerability. I never realized how hard it is to make an image viewer without running code in the image.
lassi @ Oct 22nd 2007 6:31AM
it's not supposed to run code in the image, it's just using a crappily made tiff loading library that you can exploit and iphone being "everything as root" then you can get it to do anything.
(seriously though, who the hell views tiffs with a webbrowser? and the same attack route as with psp)

I always knew Steve Jobs is a bricklayer...
aaronbareford @ Oct 21st 2007 3:47PM
Hmmm... can the hackers get cracking with the iPod Classic, i would love having rockbox running on it!
NG @ Oct 21st 2007 7:28PM
Is that just me feeling this or the iphone hack community reallly is kindna running a little slow lately after updated to 1.1.1 ?
Constable Odo @ Oct 21st 2007 9:53PM
Hacking idiots. Once the SDK is released, you'll be able to run the complete Adobe CS3 Suite or Microsoft Office on the iPhone. How's that for power. Wow! I'm sooo impressed that the iPhone will replace a Windows portable computer and get longer battery life.
ajadoniz @ Oct 21st 2007 10:52PM
Open-sourced hacking = nice
