NEC busts out a Nissan X-Trail-themed laptop
NEC's Lavie laptops have never been the most exciting machines, and true to form, when the company decided to release one of those oh-so-hip carmaker branded versions, they turned not to Ferrari or Lamborghini, but to the Japanese Nissan X-Trail. Based on the 12.1-inch Lavie G Type J, the unit features custom panels in the same red paint as the X-Trail, a custom palmrest with X-Trail logo, a waterproof nylon case made from the same material as the X-Trail's seats, and membership in a special Nissan website, where you can apparently buy more X-Trail branded gear. Specs are pretty variable since the machine is primarily BTO, but a sample configuration lists out at ¥243,495 ($2113), which'll get you a U7500 Core 2 Duo, Vista Home Premium, and a dual-layer burner. Of course, it's doubtful that we'll ever see this bad boy Stateside, but something tells us there aren't that many of you clamoring to show your X-Trail pride anyways.

Great, more consumer branded crap. Eat it up folks.

You've got to give it up to them for thinking more sensible about labeling it. Nissan is a quality car and they used the same materials in the build of the laptop. Other's just slap an expensive label on it to justify the price. Nothing in common!
On the other hand price to specs they should have labeled it LR3. A little over priced for what your getting like the Range Rover.
Somewhat contradictory but you get what I'm saying!

Of course we won't see this stateside we don't get the Nissan X-Trail here. We have the X-Terra but that is totally different. The closet thing to the X-trail is the Nissa Rouge, which is on the same car except it more designed for off-roading. just saying.
I do like that waterproof case though.

It is a nice case and all. However, we don't get the X-Trail state side, which is different from the Xterra. The closest thing we get is Nissan Rouge, which is on the same platform, but with the optional off road ability.

How do all these car themed laptops not come with a 12v power adapter and built in bluetooth and 3G radios?
If you can't power it up, transfer files, or surf, then how exactly is it a car-themed laptop?

I had an Xterra, and I'd think it was cool to have Xterra lappy, (Xterra peeps are like that), but at this price, most Xterra folks would rather buy a new bumper and winch first.
OK, maybe not most, but me. :)
But then, I think they Apple should make a MacMiniCooper and Alienware should make a 27 inch widescreen Escalade XLT laptop, which can be mounted on the interior roof for a full theater system.

What's funny is that the X-Trail (in Canada) is discontinued because sales were lousy. It's being replaced with the more nicely-designed Rouge. Great timing on that release NEC!

Awesome, a poser-themed laptop for the poser truck. :D

X-Trail is sold in Canada.

Rouge is what you put on your cheeks if you're a lady or a cross-dresser. The vehicle is called Rogue.
