I bought this on 24th October 2007 and TATA Teleservices after a deep sleep of 3 days
activated it on 27th October 2007 after my repeated calls to the dumb center (they named it call center). One can fry an omlet after speaking for 2 minutes on this handset. The reception is the worst one can imagine. The maximun time one can talk is an hour and the battery gets discarded there after. The phone finally went dead on 7th November 2007 after a total call duration of 16 hours! I went to the TATA Teleshop where I purchased the handset and they said that its not their problem and advised me to approach the Nokia care.

I went to Nokia Care which is in the other corner of my city (CDMA care center) though nokia sells handsets, it forgets to add service centers proportionately as the goats in India are habituated to standing in Queues and can tolerate apathy at its heights. One of the call center executive (other tahn the one who booked my complaint) told that this is a defective model and they are receiving many handsets.

My handset was handed over to the center and I was told to come after 15 days! as it has to go all the way to Chennai and get rectified. I asked them for the solution for the 15 days of my suffering and they told me that they are sorry! I have to suffer for the mistake of buying Nokia. Why do these so called MNC’s have an indifferent attitude when it comes to India? Can they dare say the same in developed country? I called Nokia care and they proudly said that they are doing a favor by giving a 1 year warranty. They just dont have shame to admit teh fault and withdraw the model from the market. They replaced the faulty batteries earlier as the supplier is a responsible company and admitted its mistake and replaced at its cost. Nokia is only a mediator who might have charged the company for replacing too!

I went to TATA Teleservices expecting some response. To my surprise, they showed the way to cancel my connection! I have never ever expected a so called ethical company to be so irresponsible. Unlike GSM, we dont have alternate handsets with us even the company is aware of this. They have some one called a Nodal officer who is there for the sake of regulatory obligation no point in approaching them as its waste of time and money.

Finally I ended up buying anothet handset (Huawei) for Rs1200 which is much superior than the rogue Nokia which charged me more than thrice the price of this handset with the same features! Never go for TATA Teleservices and if you happen to by mistake, never ever buy a nokia handset. I wish they will learn from the OEMs who acted much responsibly (battery replacement by matsushita is an example) Nokia please take a que from them and prosper or else perish.

ravi kiran
