It'll do the best it can and like Josh said, it's for those who don't want to run wires all over. I have a virtual surround speaker/subwoofer system from Sharp and it sounds fine for me. Granted it's not like I hear anything behind me but I don't need a receiver/amp and the connections are simple.

AJ in the East Bay

Comments on Polk Audio's SurroundBar 360 DVD Theater

"As far as these surround sound bars go, Yamaha seems to have made quite the name for itself" Um Philips Soundbar anyone?

Don't like the separate DVD system. It pretty much wrecks the point of this elegant single bar. May as well use just any Amp+DVD.

Casper

Comments on Polk Audio's SurroundBar 360 DVD Theater

I have a Yamaha YSP-3000 sound projector with Sub and in a small room it is the perfect audio solution. Yamaha spent a lot of time and revisions to get it right though, so I don't know if Polk can just jump right into the party.

Michael Marquez

Comments on Polk Audio's SurroundBar 360 DVD Theater

When you say a "small room", how small are we talking about? The sound will fill any room the best with four solid walls in a rectangular pattern and as little furniture as possible. For me it is the perfect nearly wireless solution for audio. However, some people like very loud, picture rattling, sound and these sound bars would not be for them.

Michael Marquez

Comments on Polk Audio's SurroundBar 360 DVD Theater

I just unpacked my ysp-4000 and although it's not perfect, it's pretty damn good. If i close my eyes, and do channel testing on the 5 beam setting, I can distinctly hear the surround left and right channels coming from behind me...and the front right and left channels are even more pronounced. The over-all sound quality is really nice, although I'm no audiophile. I'm sure for the same amount of money I could have gotten a nice 5.1 setup, or 4 inches of pear cable, but it works for my situation.

dnutz
