That's a big "whoop-de-doo" right there... good for you and HSDPA *applauds*. When holding my blackberry to my ear to talk, checking my email on it is the LAST thing that comes to mind.

Video calling? Who cares? Seriously.

And 3G coverage, no matter which way you slice it, is a HUGE deal to most PC Card customers. For example, this past September VZW recently wired these small/medium Colorado towns with Rev A: Durango area, including the towns of Durango and Telluride, Southern Colorado, including the San Luis Valley communities of Alamosa and Monte Vista, and the towns of Canyon City, Lamar, La Junta, Trinidad, and Walsenburg.

Now why am I pointing out specifically those Colorado towns? Because AT&T doesn't even have HSDPA in freakin DENVER Colorado! To me, that is a big deal. Not because I actually go to Colorado (I haven't been in 10 years) but it shows how far behind AT&T is to VZW (and Sprint too) in 3G coverage.

I'd much rather have twice the coverage than simultaneous voice and data, but maybe that's just me.

elgee02

Comments on AT&T USBConnect 881 HSUPA card now available

I felt like this thread was too long so my response is below.

CB17

Comments on AT&T USBConnect 881 HSUPA card now available

I was totally pi$$ed to find out that buying any data card with no contract requires a bump of the monthly cost to $80. It is in fact NOT. I go to SUBURBAN and sometimes rural places all the time that don't have EVDO but I still have EDGE. And btw, you'll NEVER have simul. voice/data but ATT/Verizon will eventually have similar coverage areas. This is because....

ATT/Verizon isn't gonna put 3G where there's not enough people per square mile. So at SOME point EVERYONE'S coverage build out is gonna come to an end and at that point (I'd say by the end of '08) what are you gonna say?

And we're not even discussing global, but I don't want to embarrass you. Just take a look at what all the Engadget writers, the boy genius and most other people in the tech field are using.
