It looks like
Rhapsody could soon be seeing a pretty big increase in traffic, as the company has just teamed up with Wendy's to give away up to 100 million free song downloads. To get in on that action, you'll have to purchase a medium or large-sized combo meal between now and December, with which you'll receive a code that'll entitle you to a free song download of your choice. What's more, you'll also be able to enter the "Combo Up to Download" sweepstakes, which'll give you a shot at a 50-song download bundle from Rhapsody, or one of one hundred
SanDisk Sansa e280R Rhapsody players. Those that frequent Wendy's on a daily basis apparently won't be able to take full advantage of their fast food ways, however, as the promotion is limited to
just 25 downloads per user.

This idea, while disastrous for child obesity problems, is absolutely ingenious.
I for one welcome our new meaty download overlords.

I'm thinking grilled chicken sandwich and substitute a side salad with lite Italian dressing for the medium fries.

They're just fattening us up for when the aliens finally reveal themselves.

Disastrous for child obesity problems? Please, this will have no affect on that. The only thing it might do is instead of going to McDees, Billy will choose Wendys instead. I hate it when people blame companies for problems that are actually caused by something else. This isn't like Big Tobacco back in the day advocating the positive health affects of smoking when they knew otherwise, Wendys just supplies the food and people choose to buy it or not. Parents taking up the wrong approach with their children is what causes child obesity, not that fast food exists.
/end of rant
and sorry if you're just being sarcastic, but too many people agree with this point of view and I hate it.

Aren't companies required by law to provide a toll free way to enter sweepstakes programs?
From the rules:
"NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING."
I don't see anything on their site about how to enter without making a purchase, though.
jonathan @ Nov 14th 2007 3:39PM
Nevermind, It says the cup code is optional. Just go to their site and enter your information http://www.hotjuicyhits.com/

Wendy's is still around :|

I wouldn't eat at Wendy's for all 100 million songs.
Fernando @ Nov 14th 2007 3:49PM
What, just 24 songs?! >=(
Hypenotist @ Nov 14th 2007 3:56PM
breaking news!!11 Thousands of minimum wage slave employees of a fast food chain fired for giving free music codes to friends who didn't want to eat shitty food or get gas.

Clog your arteries and infest your PC with malware. Supersized for only .50 more!

They need something to get business here in San Diego cause In and Out, Carl's Jr rules the burger kingdom around here and a little place called Crazy Burger taste the best out of them all.
Zorque @ Nov 14th 2007 4:08PM
I got one of these yesterday, but I'd rather not sign up for Rhapsody. It's still sitting in my garbage can if anyone wants my code.
Dirk @ Nov 14th 2007 4:14PM
Why is Rhapsody still around? Do these songs even work with an iPod?
What's the point?
GuruMatmat @ Nov 14th 2007 4:20PM
I just love Wendy's...
Rexineffex @ Nov 14th 2007 4:24PM
IMHO, Rhapsody is the greatest thing to happen to music lovers. Everything is so well organized and you can listen to countless hours of music to your hearts content, while likely discovering new artists along the way.
Listening to 30 second previews of songs is unbearable for me now.
fs2k @ Nov 14th 2007 4:51PM
Agree. I've been a "to-go" member for 3 years this month and my wife and I both have players that are never wanting for a variety of new music. You could say wait, you've spent $540 for three years of music that you don't own and goes away next month if you stop paying. My answer to that is that between my wife and I we have over 2000 ever changing songs on our players that would have cost us much more had we purchased them. It's as cheap as a usenet subscription yet it is completely legitimate. I have no intention of ever canceling my subscription.
BrettB @ Nov 14th 2007 4:49PM
If you're one of the 100 people already part of the Rhapsody ecosystem, this is great news for you. For the remaining millions of iPod owners, no ones going to switch for a few free songs. Wendys, how about just giving us $.99 off every purchase and let us shop for digital music where we please.
3rdsun @ Nov 14th 2007 5:23PM
How about telling Apple to open the ipod to subscription. thats like the pot calling the kettle black
OprahDustX @ Nov 14th 2007 4:52PM
didnt mcdonalds do this a couple years back?
i think it was
"buy a big mac, get a free mp3"
at least this is better
instead of having to buy the big mac, you can get any meal you want and get the mp3
and btw...
Baconator FTW
NHAnimator @ Nov 14th 2007 7:02PM
Great. And I just weaned myself back down to the non-enlarged-sized meal.
darkzero63 @ Nov 14th 2007 7:03PM
Figures, something that clogs your arteries and fills your system with malware. Great combo.
AJ Schrier @ Nov 14th 2007 8:07PM
The Starbucks/iTunes cards didn't do anything for many people...I think we still have a bunch left over a week after the promotion ended.
If that didn't go over like it should, who knows how this will.
Rec @ Nov 14th 2007 8:42PM
They've got good salads !!! ....but....nah.

I am still convinced that one of the biggest factors in today's iPod/iTunes market dominance is the iTunes Pepsi promotion.
I know hundreds of people that had never used iTunes prior to that, and even if they only got a few caps that actually won, they downloaded iTunes, some of them even bought iPod shuffles...

Bring back the Big Bacon Classic, you bastards!
