Pasen's LAZYBUM claims to be "world's first" mini-PMP

Quite honestly, we're a bit befuddled as to where to even start with this one. Shall we ponder the reasoning behind naming a portable media player "LAZYBUM," or would our time be better spent considering just how absurd the whole "world's first mini-PMP" claim is? Rather than harp on either, we'll just tell you that Pasen's shiny new player sports a 2.8-inch QVGA display, miniSD expansion slot, eight equalizer presets, built-in FM tuner, a voice recorder, integrated text viewer / Tetris-style game and support for MP3, WMA, WAV, AVI, XviD, DivX, ASF, MP4, FLV and lots, lots more. If you're not too offended by the title, and your ego is fine with knowing that this actually isn't the tiniest PMP Earth has ever seen, you probably can't go (too) wrong here.

What about the Free .ogg or .flac codecs?
It doesn't list them.. Erg.

It's so annoying, ogg takes less space than Mp3 and AAC and sounds the same as AAC which is better than Mp3.. Its also free from restricted patents unlike mp3 and aac.

I'm happy that they have support for all these other codecs in one player though.

If it's anything like Pasen's other products, "support" comes through a conversion-utility you run on your PC. Not exactly what most people would be looking for when they're talking about file support:

I think the conversion software is just for converting the video's resolution to one supported by the player, which isn't the case with the LAZYBUM: "Support for AVI/XviD/Divx ( full resolution without conversion) ,RM,RMVB,FLV,ASF,MP4,3GP."

"We thought this player for all the lazy people out there(hence the name LAZYBUM) who doesn't want to lose time on converting a movie or a video clip,simply copy it inside and your are done!"

Obviusly not since you posted that mpio player.
A pmp is a player with a screen large enough to watch movies and it can play movies without much hassle.A 1 inch mp3 player with oled screen obviously can't be recognized as PMP!

smh @ someone correcting him when it "is" a PMP. It plays back mp3s, mpeg4, wmv, avi, and divx. Screen size has nothing to do with it. PMP doesn't mean Portable WatchablewithoutamagnifyinglassMedia Player.

The only way what he linked doesn't consistute a PMP ... is the lack of image support, or the fact that it doesn't walk with a cane.

Regardless, his post was indeed moot, considering engadget already stated there were others.

What the word literally means and what it is commonly used for it's 2 different things.
You are right that would be described as PMP,but nowadays PMP is used only for what i just told you.
Just watch any serious website and you will see they distinguish between mp4 player and pmp.
But what you are saying is that mp4 player and pmp are the same...

Actually I will give them a gimme on that title. I mean PMP means portable media player. None of the Apple products count as they ONLY play mp4 mp3 aac and a few picture formats.

My Zen vision is almost a pmp just lacks a few audio formats (AAC and AC3)

This thing has a pretty impressive list of supported formats! it might be a true PMP and I know of no other this small that might quality as a TRUE pmp.

So let them have it if its real and affordable :-)
