Lars & Ivan's PA-40Ti Hybrid power amplifier / iPod dock
We've no qualms with a manufacturer thinking outside of the box in order to differentiate its iPod docking station from the myriad competitors, but Lars & Ivan's PA-40Ti takes it one step beyond customization. This Hybrid power amplifier / iPod dock sports a design that SNL's Nuni and Noony are sure to adore, and features a total output of 40-watts RMS, a frequency response of 22Hz - 22kHz, signal-to-noise ratio of 67dB, four-channel input selector (phono / CD / aux / iPod), a headphone jack and a dedicated subwoofer output. Additionally, this thing includes video out and a remote control, and while it will run you a stiff €233 ($341), your collection of industrial metal will be totally in love.

respectable power....
four-channel input selector (phono / CD / aux / iPod)?
I hope that's 8 channels...

But does it go to 11?

Great. A new take on will it blend/does it play doom?

It's got Pop-o-matic bubbles!

Cool - a Roomba with an iPod dock!

I still don't understand the phenomenon of iPod docks ... great, it's a stereo on which I can set my iPod, SWEEEEEET! *happily forks over $300+ dollars*
P.S. For all the Apple "apparently you're not rich and, thus, bitter" users, the point is that I can get a $4 ipod-RCA plug and spend the money on a system that doesn't carry an iPod-related premium.

I don't think it's about paying a premium for iPod compatability. I have a couple of speaker systems with iPod docks, and have paid decent prices for them. This thing has it's own audio related price premiums...
he nice thing for me is that when I throw my iPod into my Kensington flat panel speaker system when I get home- I get my music in my kitchen while cooking, it looks cool, sounds great, AND it charges my iPod. Plus no clutter of cables. There's my $.02 as to why iPod dock speakers are worth looking at.

I'd actually love to hear this thing- tube pre-amps, 40 WRMS, hybrid amp, all from a company that makes some decent speakers. Actually doesn't seem too overpriced to me.

that is just too ugly. I'm speechless.

S/N Ratio of 67dB is appallingly bad.
billy bob thorton @ Nov 16th 2007 10:58PM
seriously, there are tape decks that have better S/N. It would be a piece of junk if it were $30, at $341 they're just stealing your money.

phono input on a third millenium device?

I've heard that, in general, tube amps produce very good sound. I'd like to here some reviews.
I found this company in the US:

They don't have them yet but will in a few weeks...
