Apple's hardware isn't overpriced. You get more bang for the buck than with almost any other computer manufacturer. It's just that they rarely make a low-end computer. Except that whole problem of when you compare them feature for feature Apple hardware is price competitive with PC hardware. The difference between Apple and say Dell is that Apple doesn't sell the crappy low end stuff that is dirt cheap. The stuff that Dell sells that actually has similar specs to the stuff Apple sells is usually about the same price, sometimes Apple even comes out on top.

You want to use a PC? There is only one thing this beast may have that can trump the Mini (other than a trendy orange bit of plastic)--a real 3D video chipset. I haven't been able to find specs on the Asus to see if it uses that crappy Intel GM abomination like the Mini does.

Otherwise, hardware to hardware (since both will run Windows or Linux), the Mini is a far better deal for the same amount of cash.

For the record, Apple is only slightly less evil than Microsoft. I dislike them both. Linux fan-boy here.
