More details on the Palm Treo 800w uncovered?
According to some dedicated -- and, might we add, thorough -- Palm fans, it looks like we've gotten a few more bits of data about the (rumored) forthcoming Treo 800w. If you believe the data, FCC documents detailing emails between Palm and the agency reveal the code names and corresponding FCC IDs of four phones... including one we've never heard of with "co-locating WiFi and radio." Hear that? There's no current (or announced) Palm phone with WiFi, so this device, referred to as the "Zeppelin" in the .pdf could likely be the upcoming new phone that folks have been speculating on lately. The document also makes reference to a "Centro 685," which is another clue in this mystery, a variant of the Centro (690 is the official Palm "number" of the Sprint version) which might be headed out on AT&T. Only time, and Palm, will tell if this thing becomes a reality -- c'mon dudes, give us something.

Yeah, both of those guys did a great job uncovering this.
There may be many Palm users, but you'd have to be fresh off a lobotomy table or completely misunderstanding the conversation to be a Palm FAN.

Every single Palm device should have WiFi and GPS.
It's not like they're expensive features.
Irfan @ Dec 17th 2007 1:03PM
im gonna venture out and say its not palm thats holding back on these features, its the service providers demanding they dont include them. Like verizon wants you to have wifi when they could just sell you a $40 data plan?

rock99rock @ Dec 17th 2007 10:22AM
I highly doubt it will live up to its code name...

Maybe it could be like my Treo 700w and come with not enough ram so that I am forced to reset it once a day. No thanks Palm, you can keep any future Treos.
Mark Richardson @ Dec 17th 2007 12:26PM
You knew (or should have known) it only had ~32MB of RAM when you bought it. Shame on you for being an uninformed customer. Get a 700wx.
And you don't have to reset it to free up memory.

They called it Zepplin because they expect it to crash and burn, most especially in a southern New Jersey town with a radio announcer screaming into his microphone OH THE HORROR OH THE HUMANITY.
Or because they're hoping Indiana Jones and his father will climb aboard one and crash it into the European mountainside.

What is th mtter with Palm and Treo, They had a 10 year jump on smart phone technology and they blew it!!! Aplle comes out with the iPhone and the first version blows palm/Treo away. Blackberry surpasses and just about everyphone is beating them on size, function, wifi, multimedia and screen. I am a diehard palm addict but I am slowly loosing faith, Nothing is new. 755p is the same as my 700p. The 700p is slow and locks up. I have had Verizon replace it 3 times so far..as soon as apple goes 3G and gets better business Outlook support I'm changing..I keep hoping for some huge suprize anouncment ..the new treo 900p with wifi, Hi Res touch screen, 5mp camera with flash, 8gig memory, dual core processing, printer capable, etc, etc ,etc

FAKE.
How would it have an FCC ID if it still needs to be submitted to the FCC?
freakmarket @ Dec 17th 2007 3:31PM
Zeppelin is a good name ... Palm's phone's are the giant blimps of the phone world.
hausenpepper @ Dec 17th 2007 4:01PM
The most important question is, why the hell does anyone care? One word. iPhone.

"c'mon dudes, give us something." - They were going to, but they laid that guy off...

Palm Treo 500v is Palm Centro on ATT, isn't it?
