The 3007 is almost as fast as a CRT (I'm talking about the lag between the video card putting out a pixel and the monitor starting to change color, not the commonly stated start-change to finish that causes ghosting). The 24" panels appear to buffer 2 or 3 frames, presumably for color correction. The 24" suck for FPSs, which is why I went with the 3007. The input lag was horrible. I had it setup next to a regular 20" and the cursor on the 30" didn't move until well after the cursor on the 20". Normal high res 2560x1600 monitors will display HDCP content at the highest resolution IF they are HDCP compliant. In other words, even though HD 1080p resolution is 1920x1080, the monitor scales properly and displays content even when your desktop is at 2560x1600.

The new 3008WFP does NOT work in this scenario. You must actually lower the desktop resolution to 1920x1080 because this monitor will not display HDCP content at any resolution over 1080p! In fact, the monitor doesn't even display HDCP content at a proper aspect ratio of 1920x1200! So all your Blu-ray movies and Media Center HDTV will appear distortedwith a vertical stretching appearance.

Dell higher ups have confirmed this is a problem with the chipset and they are redesigning the monitor. Since front line Dell Technical staff knows nothing about this, owners of this monitor will be unpleasantly surprised if and when they decide to try HDCP content. But by then, it will be too late to return the monitor and you will be stuck with a $2,000 non-HDCP paper weight that is past its return period.

sadbuyer

Comments on Dell's 3008WFP 30-inch LCD with DisplayPort sneaks available -- in US too

Wow.
