And no, the wooden board was not immobile. It was propped up against a chair but it clearly moved when it was struck by the arrows and afterwards shifted position just a bit.

on a similar note, many think that shooting a crt with a gun is going to be really great, but it turns out not to be so great, but we used to do something that is quite entertaining for a few rounds, which is to bowl your monitor with a real bowling ball.
set the CRT on a stand, then build a ramp for the ball so that it will hit in the center, step back 20-30 feet and let er rip.
you will amamzed at how strong CRT glass is, then, when you do get it to break, you will ove the sound and the visual.

Seriously, I'm pretty sure my kids could destroy ANY item in my home in under a minute. The only reason they haven't broken the monitor I have connected to their PC yet is that it's a twelve ton 20" CRT that a buddy of mine dumpster-dove from a college IT department.
