Meh.

I played them when they were new. I don't need to play them now. They'll be boring compared to modern games, and anyone who says otherwise is having a fit of nostalgia. Believe me, you'll get this thing and drop it in a week or less to play your DS, PSP, or home console.

Or it will go in your collection, and you'll just use it to show off.

Shrink down an XBox 360 into a handheld, and I'll be impressed. This is just a gimmick to separate the easily nostalgic types from their money. These are not the games I'd care to play.

And why only twenty games? You could fit the entire Genesis library on a single ROM chip today. If this is a Mega Drive on a chip, then why don't they just make it complete library and sell it for a little more?

Sonic, Altered Beast, and Ecco? Bleh. Call me when they make one of these that includes Out Of This World, Star Control, Starflight, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and Castlevania. All the worn-out Sega titles have been redone on every console and download service a few dozen times already.

ZeroCorpse

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

I constantly play NES and SMS games on my palm... And yes, they're quite fun to play

And no, it's not the nostalgia, I never used any of those consoles... in fact, the XBOX 360 is my first console (looking at the year I was first turned on, it could have been SNES, but I wasn't really interested on gaming until now.. LEGO Technics was my thing)

DarkLightConnection

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

I have fun with retro games themselves & thats one of the reason's that i got my hands on one of those Pocket Megadrive .
And as for you DarkLight Conniction .
Im guessing that you don't care that companys shut down due to Piracy .
The only ROMS of retro games that i be downloading are from the Virtual Console where there are completly legal & morality right .

Kawaiipikachu

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

It makes no sense to make cartridge playing portables. Even the largest Genesis games were smaller than 10 MB (i.e. Shaq fu).

It makes so much more sense to simply load a huge library of top rated Genesis (or NES, or SNES, or Turbo Graphyz 16,etc) games onto SD cards and play them from there.

I know it breaks all types of copyright rules... but, how else can the video game community enjoy games that came out way back in the 80's and 90's? Virtual Console isn't enough. Xbox Live isn't enough.

I propose that some Chinese company make a device that emulates top-rated 8-bit, and 16-bit games - similar to the PSP - which can connect to a television using RCA cables.

Flashpoint

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

Well, the PSP Slim does TV out, and with homebrew you can emulate practically everything...

Paulmichael

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

Its been done.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-d1-49-en-70-277b.html

AceRimmer

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

The answer is pay for legally downloadable ROMS like the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console & one of the reasons why is that today's gamers can play yesterday's games i even enjoy playing NES games .

Kawaiipikachu

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

Not too impressed. It's a cool idea, but it'll get old pretty quickly. For a much higher price it'd be better to buy either a psp or ds. Both have their own library of fun games (Apparently at least, personally I can't find any psp titles I'm interested in. Lovely device though) and both have homebrew megadrive emulators that probably run better than this one. And in addition to that you have plenty of other homebrew titles, emulators, and a much better device altogether.

caramelzappa

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

Only 3 action buttons .
Must means it's limited to what games can be played on it then as Mortal Kombat needs 6 action buttons .
Upper & lower punch =2
+Upper & lower kick=4
+block=5
+run(mk3 only=6
so there are many games won't be on it then as the 3 action button controller built in then .
but is it from that Brazelion company that licensed by sega to produce megadrive's for over there if so all piracy concern is over

Kawaiipikachu

Comments on Mega Drive Portable gets rebadged, available to order

dangg i played that game on my computer like 10 years ago.. wow..

alex
