It's Everex's Distro for the gPC, the idea is that it's "greenOS" and "greenPC" (or thats what i remember).

They need to drop the desktop environment for Gnome or KDE, heck even XFCE! Enlightenment just isn't going to cut it for this system, while a great environment, it's just not practical, if they want that look, they can get it for a lot less of a footprint. The google bit is nice, but sooo over done. The inexperienced user however might just find this extremely useful and easy to use for the crushingly basic stuff.

My cousin just bought one of these from Wal-Mart. He likes it, and it does what he needs it for, but he didnt realize that it wouldnt work with his other programs.

Im working with him to find Linux alternatives, but its just kinda funny how it doesnt even have a big warning or anything that it wont with your other apps. When I was looking at the box, I was expecting a significant sized warning.

Of course, Wal-Mart wasnt going to tell him that. He said no one even offered to help him (typical of the store).

Apple is willing to harvest open source software for it's own profit (Safari, etc) but not willing to give much back to the community. After all, it gives iTunes away for free but cannot seem to recompile it for Linux, which ought to be a no-brainer compared to the Windows port.
