They made so many mistakes with this system, it's really not all that hard to make a good Linux distro for one friggen machine (it's distros for a wide variety of machines like Ubuntu or Fedora that are hard to make).<br><br>They need to drop the desktop environment for Gnome or KDE, heck even XFCE! Enlightenment just isn't going to cut it for this system, while a great environment, it's just not practical, if they want that look, they can get it for a lot less of a footprint. The google bit is nice, but sooo over done. He likes it, and it does what he needs it for, but he didnt realize that it wouldnt work with his other programs.<br><br>Im working with him to find Linux alternatives, but its just kinda funny how it doesnt even have a big warning or anything that it wont with your other apps. When I was looking at the box, I was expecting a significant sized warning.<br><br>Of course, Wal-Mart wasnt going to tell him that. After all, it gives iTunes away for free but cannot seem to recompile it for Linux, which ought to be a no-brainer compared to the Windows port.<br><br>No skin off my nose.  I'm using Amazon's new service on my linux Nokia N810. For non-tech users, gOS could be the one great and low cost alternative.
