Shuttle launches $199 KPC linux box, $99 barebones kit

Apparently Asus and Everex aren't the only ones capable of shipping dirt cheap linux boxes these days. Shuttle is getting into the game with its new KPC box. Unfortunately, we're way short on specs, but we do know that it'll be coming in $199 pre-built and $99 barebones versions. At least it's a looker, here's hoping there's something decent under the hood. No word on release date. More pictures after the jump!

Assuming that the size of the screws (5mm diameter?) in the images are the same size as the ones on my Shuttle XPC SB61G2, I compared the distances of the KPC's screws to my XPC's and assuming that I'm not too far off target, I believe that the dimensions of the KPC are about: W=195mm x H=135mm (THIS IS A ROUGH GUESS!!) Unfortunately, I can't accurately determine depth in the photo (angles and all that), so I can't say for certain how deep it goes.

I can fit two hard drives and an optical drive into my SB61G2's dimensions (200mm x 185mm), so I would assume that one could fit at least two hard drives into the KPC. I could be wrong.

These look very interesting, I'm looking for a small, cheap home server that has at least decent looks, with at least a 1.5 Ghz CPU and 1 GB of RAM, this could fit those needs easily... I hope it's a low-watt system too.

Just use a 16x2 LCD to display important information and a serial console when it goes haywire :)
