No way would apple announce a product upgrade when it is still being rolled out across the world. Even asia hasn't seen it yet. I guess in the summer there will be a mid year announcement, once the SDK has been released and is gaining momentum.
Im already salivating at the thought of an iPhone Air (Yeah Right??)
Apple has to milk the world dry with the EDGEtastic iPhone first. They they will release the 3G version. But not when the world is ready. When Apple is ready. Either that or that can't figure out how to make
Well, it has only been 6 months. 4mln sold is astounding. 3G and 16GB.. we've got a mid-April Apple event to look forward to, remember they usually do something around then: who can forget iPod HiFi.
The problem is the site was basically down all during the keynote. He probably did what I did in another thread after writing his comment; just kept hitting refresh until it looked like it "took".
engadget's gotta fix their server situation. I hate to say it, but Gizmodo worked fine all through the keynote. Engadget for all intents and purposes crashed under the load.
Apple's smart guys. Att is not as smart. But they both know when most people would change there phone. And thats when their contract is over, so we have another year to go before a new iphone is announced. It only makes sense.
16 gigs? That's all you have? Cripes, use any number of the streaming client programs out there and you're only limited to the size of the drive on your home computer...

I am absolutely appalled by Apple. I recently got an iPod Touch, and have hacked it open with Installer App to have all the iphone apps including maps, notes, and mail. Now Apple have finally released an update to install on these offically on the iPod touch - but I have to pay for the privilege!!! yes thats right $19.99 (or an even more unfair £12.99 for us Brits) to get the latest software... cock off Steve Jobs, I will just still to my hacked version!

Yeah :P Apple releases the 3G iPhone and the early adopters get pissed off because they don't have 3G.
Keep it this way until Apple at least has the iPhone selling in all countries. It may have been out since June for some of you but most countries are still waiting.
It is my opinion that Apple is compelled to squeeze every bit of profit out of the oh-so-wonderful EDGE version of the iPhone before they are ready to sell one with 3G. Their timeline isn't based on what the consumer wants, but on what gets Apple the most money. The other option is that they are unable to come up with a way to make the iPhone work with 3G.

Apple doesn't sell on specs, they sell on style and on admission to the club.
Now cough up your $20, and another in March, and another in May and be happy until June, when you can finally have the privilege of paying $600 to start the cycle over again. What fun!

No memory bump either. I'm finding it a struggle with the 16GB on my touch. I feel sorry for iPhone owners with only 8GB to play with!

Perhaps Apple engineers are not cleaver enough to make a 3G iPhones let alone 3.5G! And we'll probably have to wait even longer for Apple to add BT2!
