We've already seen scans and heard ramblings about a sequel to Pokemon Ranger, but Nintendo officially announced the game today in Japan. Nintendo stated that the game will be coming to Japan on March 20th, and will be called Pokemon Ranger Batonnage. Using the word "batonnage" makes us wonder if we'll be able to drink fine wines with the Pokemon in the game. The least we could do after catching the critters, enslaving them, and forcing them to fight is give them a nice glass of Château de Pikachu, don't you think?

Other then a confirmation and a Japanese release date, not much is known about the title. It shouldn't be long before information about an international release surfaces, though.
