Samsung i900 to take on LG KS20?
Rumor has it that the phone pictured here is Samsung's i900, a phone that takes the keypadless, finger-friendly formula that's oh-so-popular these days and injects some Windows Mobile 6.1 into the equation. If true, that'd put it head to head with LG's KS20, and it's got the right specs for that particular battle with 7.2Mbps HSDPA, a 5 megapixel autofocus cam, and 8GB of integrated Flash. We'll just have to hang tight and see how this one fleshes out, but we wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it were real.

Cudos to Chris for not dragging you-know-what into the article! :)
James Cameron @ Jan 16th 2008 8:14PM
Well, at least this phone sound much much better than their earlier F490. 8gig internal with a microSD expansion, FM Radio. I'm sold. Hope there is a GPS integrated. If the F490 was announced around $700 for just 130mb internal, I'm scare to know how much this one would cost.
FK @ Jan 16th 2008 2:12PM
I wonder what website that pic came from as I can not see a watermark anywhere on it.
Charles Owens @ Jan 16th 2008 2:27PM
yea im glad it doesn't have any watermark on it, thats would suck.
kastonie @ Jan 16th 2008 2:12PM
you must be talking about the ZUNE!
Hung @ Jan 16th 2008 8:28PM
You must not know what the reply button does.
kastonie @ Jan 17th 2008 6:16PM
yea i do, ass, but the shafty comment system does not actually do it sometimes...
Hung @ Jan 17th 2008 10:25PM
Oh, ok. Yeah, sometimes I'll press it and it'll go down to the comment box, but my reply will still be considered a "new" comment.
ark_v2 @ Jan 16th 2008 2:14PM
Samsung makes some really nice kick ass phones.
Chebwa @ Jan 16th 2008 2:20PM
What phone.
Hung @ Jan 16th 2008 8:37PM
What reply button.
Note the lack of a question mark. It's a statement, not an inquiry.
Chebwa @ Jan 16th 2008 8:43PM
This used to be a reply to a comment that said "cellularmania.com" about 200 times. It was there up until a short time ago. They must have deleted the comment I replied to, and left my reply as a freestanding comment rather than delete it. Maybe they considered it advertising, although it was just someone making fun of the image.
And now that I look 3 comments up... what are you, the f@*ng reply police? Leave.
Hung @ Jan 16th 2008 8:57PM
I actually remember seeing that the first time I loaded the page. I thought you missed the reply button the first time and resent it.
No, I'm not the reply button police, but I'd very much like to be. Also, you got to haze the newbies to help 'em learn, right?
Hung @ Jan 16th 2008 8:59PM
Oh yeah, forgot this:
I'm sorry.
Chebwa @ Jan 16th 2008 9:08PM
I guess you're not a jerk after all. Sorry for being such a prick in response, haha. I guess it's not incredibly common that comments get shifted around like that, too.
squirgle @ Jan 16th 2008 2:32PM
How can anyone support this culture of simply knocking off anything Apple does? If a writer or film maker did this, this overtly, they'd be ridiculed and mocked. And these companies are celebrated. Unreal.
riggs @ Jan 16th 2008 2:35PM
seeing as how LG came out first, you should really stfu :)
Mattcastb @ Jan 16th 2008 2:38PM
Oh... right! Because Apple never rips anything off.
SURE! Everyone rips from someone else.
Al @ Jan 16th 2008 2:45PM
Not to mention the Touch was out first also(granted at the time it was under the Elf name and the touchflo software was a beta at the time).
thartist @ Jan 16th 2008 5:53PM
Actually...I'd take the Samsung knockoff if I had a choice. If Samsung made a laptop that made my coffee, I'll buy that too. No, I am not bias.
squirgle @ Jan 16th 2008 2:40PM
The LG what? Sorry, never heard of it. Show this to every man, woman and child on the planet and they'll say it's either an iPhone, or "a weird looking iPhone."
Joe @ Jan 16th 2008 2:44PM
Nope. Only the ignorant and quick to judge (and comment).
Xultar @ Jan 16th 2008 2:46PM
ahhh who's dumb ass watermarks are those. Can't see the freakin phone. WHAT IDIOTS
Toph @ Jan 16th 2008 9:52PM
The dumbest part is that I can barely even read the watermark. Not that I would visit and reward their overzealousness.
L @ Jan 16th 2008 2:50PM
From what I can see (not that much thanks to that watermark - how about making it non-transparent too in case somebody misses to see it?) it looks like a larger Armani, which is great in my opinion.
The specs sound killer like! Hopefully they're true!
squirgle @ Jan 16th 2008 2:53PM
You guys are right. This is nothing like an iPhone. My mistake. How dare Apple rip everybody off like that. Hacks.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 3:27PM
You're right it is nothing like an iPhone. This phone....
Has decent camera with flash
Can take video
Can send MMS
Will not be tied to a single operator per country
Will not require you to take out a loan to buy it
Will let you use any supported audio file as a ringtone
Will let you buy it unlocked or let you unlock it using a simple code
Will not require you to install stupid software to activate it/upload music to it.
fooFoo @ Jan 16th 2008 7:30PM
In all fairness you should be comparing this phone to the second generation iPhone, which I presume will probably be released around the same time.

My Italian isn't great but I think the article says "integrated GPS", and a "MicroSD slot", and "integrated FM radio" , and "a second camera for video conferencing"
If the Apple fanboys could pull thier heads out for a minute, this thing could kill something, and probably for cheaper than some fruit too.
Homeboy @ Jan 16th 2008 3:01PM
No WiFi=(
squirgle @ Jan 16th 2008 2:57PM
FM radio!? How much and where do I buy it!?
Seth Porter @ Jan 16th 2008 3:22PM
Wow this is a snazzy phone, and with it specs, it may give the iphone a run for its money. The problem most US users will face is that with this phone's specs, it will probably run $600 or $700 from one of those phone importing companies such as dynamism. The iphone will only run you $400.
squirgle @ Jan 16th 2008 3:36PM
It's also unlike an iPhone in that it does not exist as of yet. Which, you know, is nice when it comes to useability.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 3:48PM
Tell you what. You stop trying to compare every touch screen phone with your precious iPhone and I'll stop pointing out what a total con the iPhone actually is.
Personally I'd take my LG Viewty over the iPhone any day.
riggs @ Jan 16th 2008 3:57PM
Squirgle went through like 5 different emotions in this thread
squirgle @ Jan 16th 2008 4:09PM
"LG Viewty?" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know, like beauty! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAH!!!!!!!! But with "View" HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! That's hilarious. And glee makes six emotions for anyone counting.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 4:42PM
Wow your mother must be so proud of you.
How old are you? 8? 9?
J @ Jan 19th 2008 10:03AM
Really so you think putting an "I" before the word phone is that much better?
squirgle @ Jan 16th 2008 4:46PM
My mother's a viewtiful woman. How dare you bring her into this.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 5:00PM
May I suggest you have a read of http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=reply
It's an amazing function that lets intelligent people actually reply to posts rather than making totally unconnected comments. But are there such things as intelligent trolls?
Hung @ Jan 16th 2008 8:42PM
Oh snap, Carbonize.
And might I mention that you handled that joshua thing pretty well, too. I would have eaten his first-born, but posting his poor attempt at revenge is good too.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 10:36PM
The Joshua thing is ongoing. He is attempting to flood my blog with comments and failing badly.
Kweenie @ Jan 16th 2008 5:09PM
Holy watermark, Batman.
MED @ Jan 16th 2008 7:10PM
Wait a minute i think i can make out a faint website address in that picture! subliminal messaging much( or superliminal)
kmq @ Jan 16th 2008 7:58PM
Wasn't the Samsung F700 supposed to have a 5 megapixel camera, 7.2mbps, and nifty touchscreen goodness when it was firs tannounced? Which was then bumpbed down to a 3 megapixel camera, 3.6 mbps, and reviews of laggy touchscreens...I'm not getting my hopes up quite yet.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 10:38PM
Is the F700 the Armani? I quite liked the look of the Armani but I read the reviews and they said it had a mediocre camera and suffered from slow response times.
kmq @ Jan 16th 2008 10:54PM
No, the F700 is the slide out QWERTY model currently on Vodafone; the Samsung Armani's model number is the P520, but they both use the same interface.
Carbonize @ Jan 16th 2008 10:59PM
Ah right. I could of easily looked that up but am feeling lazy.
If you want a touch screen I do have to say the LG Viewty is a damn fine phone. My last phone was an LG Shine so I didn't have high expectations but the Viewty is leagues ahead of the Shine and it's numerous bugs.
Ryan @ Jan 17th 2008 12:13AM
Lg Viewty plus KS20. N95 killer! Nice move, Samsung.
I didn't mention iPhone, please don't come after me.
