Vuzix iWear AV920-C further isolates multi-player gamers
Vuzix, once known as Icuiti, is back with a modified video eyewear design for gamers which they claim is a world's first. The AV902-C starts with their AV902 headset's twin 640 x 480 LCDs. They then add the ability to segment multi-player displays so that the person wearing the AV902-C only sees their half (2-player) or quadrant (in 4-player) of the screen presented as a 62-inch virtual display. Up to four of the AV902-C's can be daisy chained together for distraction-free (and cheat-free) gaming. Available February for an undisclosed price.

thats kinda awesome...but who is really going to fork out for these things? I imagine most gamers who would fork out for these already have a nice big TV to play them on anyway? So until the prices hit rock bottom you can count me out...
also just noticed they have little headphones on, does this mean you have to also turn off your sound system to listen to these little things instead?

It does play doom!

Nop, it doesn't, but you fell for their well done product shots ;)
Well, maybe someone *could* get doom running on the glasses themself, but I guess it won't be soon, fluent or anywhere near playable ...

Hmm, and how do you control the four players on one computer?
I've been looking for a multi-input solution from time to time just out of curiosity, but never found anything.
I can imagine some funny uses for it, but nothing practical comes to mind, only artsy/experimental stuff.

It works with the Wii? Does it come with a headband for mounting the sensor bar???

Has anyone purchased one of these off their site? Is the pricing for real!??! I've been keeping an eye on stereoscopic head mounted displays for a few years now and Vuzix's VR920 appears too good to be true.. (inst-astigmatism after 15 minutes of use?)

This does look good, if what its saying is that I could play Halo 3 vs someone else in the room I wouldn't see the split screen; just my part of the screen, then I'm all for trying it. Other then that.. nah

I have a AV920 (purchased through skymall-their store was down at the time) plugged into my PSP and I am experimenting with the VR920 at my job. I use my AV920 every night. The wife has to go to work very early in the morning and this allows me to watch tv in bed or use remote play with the PS3 without disturbing her. Works well when I have to travel as well. The field of view is a little tight, but the picture quality and color is fine by my standards. My eyes don't fatigue either. No more than a regular TV, that is. With the VR920 the steroscopics can be a little fatiguing however. A few rounds of old counterstrike can leave you with the beginnings of a headache. Maybe I don't have the settings right just yet. I really wish these companies would start figuring a strategy to market these to deployed soldiers. A lot of strife is generated when you have to fight over the one tv in the tent (if you have one) or it's disheartening when your favorite sport is not on the tv in the chow hall or morale tent. I remember having to play halo on a 10 inch screen with three other people once. I see how this latest AV920 could help with that problem.

The article body text has it as the "902", not "920"...

HAHA I remember playing 4 player Goldeneye in College with 2 on 2 teams and hanging a towel down the center of the TV. It worked very well except it was very tough splitting a 17 inch TV into 4.

I've tried the AV920 with Metroid Prime 3 last night. Just need to have the sensor in front of you in the right level. I left mine on my TV and just made sure I didn't turn full away from it. It feels like a very different game after that. You start to tilt your head to look around and I tend to forget to move the Wiimote to actually look. The Stereoscopic feature sorta makes me feel weird because it really does feel like the stuff shooting at you is sort of jumping the screen. I had to turn it off the feature after a few minutes. From what I understand the AV920-C and the console kit for existing users is suppose to have some type of component / HDMI support.
